On August 18, I made a reservation using Harbor Town Inn's website to stay at the Harbor Town Inn on September 23. The website kept freezing up and shutting down. Finally, the website accepted my reservation, but I did not notice that it had actually reserved my room for August 18 and not September 23, which was the date that I had repeatedly entered into the website's reservation portal. (On August 18, I was at my home thousands of miles away--I did not need a room at Harbor Town Inn on August 18.) ||I just arrived in Manitowoc after a long flight, expecting to sleep in the room that I had reserved using the Harbor Town Inn’s website. I was shocked when the receptionist told me that my reservation was for August 18. She also informed me that, because I had "not shown up or cancelled my reservation," Harbor Town Inn had charged me for the room on August 18. ||After contacting the owner, the receptionist informed me that I could have a room at Harbor Town Inn tonight, but that I would not be refunded for the money that Harbor Town Inn charged me on August 18. I asked if they could at least discount the cost of tonight’s room (since it was their defective reservation portal that had caused the erroneous August 18th reservation), but the owner refused. ||I was looking forward to staying at the Harbor Town Inn tonight, but since I believe that it was unfair for the owner to refuse to either (1) give me a refund for the erroneous August 18th booking that I did not want or need and that was caused by their glitchy website, or (2) give me a discount for tonight’s room, I left and stayed at another local hotel.||I travel extensively, and I have never encountered such a poorly-functioning reservation portal (I should have used Travelocity or Booking.com, since their reservation systems work correctly) or such poor...
Read moreVery comfortable stay, though bereft of some of the traditional comforts of hotel living.
The desk staff were helpful, polite, and friendly. They even laughed at my weak joke. There's a decent lobby with a free local newspaper (but no nationals).
Breakfast was included and was an above average self-service selection. There's no restaurant. No pool, but there is a small gymnasium, which my colleague enjoyed using.
The room I had was comfortable and not too cramped. The bathroom was clean, and had a good-sized bath. Unfortunately there was a prison shower only (no flexible hose). Free soap and shampoo was included.
There were no tea and coffee making facilities, nor a Corby trouser press. There was an empty ice bucket and some cellophane-wrapped paper cups. Thanks, I think! Of more use was the small fridge and microwave oven. A large flat screen television with cable channels and a Gideons' Bible meant I was never bored.
There's a small desk with power sockets but no stationery.
The bed was firm and covered in white linen which didn't look that clean because there was boot polish all over the bottom part of the eiderdown. However I'm pretty sure it was all cleaned properly, they just couldn't get those stains out.
I was given a WiFi password which worked, but the connection didn't, even though the router was right outside my bedroom.
I was very happy with my stay here, and would stay again. There's only a few limitations, but hey, this is affordable, pleasant, and central to the city...
Read moreI wanted to take a moment to tell you about a stay we had planned at Harbor Town Inn in Manitowoc, WI. My wife and I travel a lot and had booked this two night stay far in advance through Expedia for our first Green Bay Packers game. The night we arrived, we checked in and headed to our room. We quickly noticed the room had not been cleaned and even appeared to have been made to look like it had been. Towels with makeup on them, somewhat folded and put back on the towel rack, hair and spilled shampoo in the shower and trash in the trash cans. Even after this, we considered staying, but then we pulled back the bed sheets. There was literally pubic hair and wet stains on the bed sheet on two different places. That was the final straw. We went back to the counter and told the lady what we saw and she literally started laughing and said "too much information". The only option we were offered to remedy the situation were clean sheets that we had to change ourselves. Obviously, we would not do that. We asked for a refund, since no other rooms were available and she refused. She also refused to give us her name. We contacted Expedia as soon as we returned home and they also contacted them and they too were denied her name or a refund. Worst stay...
