We will definitely stay here again when we return to Terlingua! Initially we rented the Cadillia House- on the “reservations” page, it does not specify that the bathroom and shower are separate buildings, but on their main page it does; I hadn’t looked at the main page. The bathroom situation wasn’t going to work for me for personal reasons, so I called their number to see if a room switch was possible, and I am SO GRATEFUL they switched us into the Perry Mansion. The building is beautiful, nice and cool in the summer, private but also a brief walk from all that is amazing in Terlingua- the trading post, restaurants, the graveyard, and of course ruins. We got to enjoy sunrises and sunsets and star gazing from our patio and the balcony as well as lots of nature watching.. roadrunners, ravens, and quail all came to visit. The views from up on the hill are truly amazing. I HIGHLY recommend staying in one of the rooms in the Perry Mansion- it is historical, beautiful, comfortable, and the people who run it are so friendly and accommodating. We had free peach tea and bottled water waiting for us in our fridge- that is SO appreciated in the desert heat. There is also WiFi out there that works great! Thank yall so much for restoring this mansion and sharing it with people! I can’t wait to return...
Read moreStayed in the upstairs of the Perry Mansion, and we were blessed as we had the upper floors and large balcony to ourselves. The evening views of the sunset and then the stars were great with a middle of nowhere feeling (glad we brought that box of Buds and continental platter in Fort Stockton). |Comfortable and reasonably clean with quirky decor, and 2 queen beds. Old fashioned style to the bathroom with a wooden countertop which showed water marks so careful. Large shower with curtain, although drain smelled sometimes. Microwave and fridge in the room, as well as use of a shared full kitchen. The kitchen had pod hot drink maker (all sorts of drink), ice making machine, stove oven, large fridge freezer and full utensils. There were ice packs in the freezer and a cooler box that seem to have been left by previous guests, as well as condiments. We took our own breakfast stuff. The State Park had a bottle filling station so we got cold water there. Good, reasonably priced meal at the nearby Starlight Theatre with $3 beers, but our waitress was unfriendly and rather full of herself so we din't feel so welcome. Fuel prices are high in the area as to be expected. |Really enjoyed our time in Terlingua and the Holiday Hotel, and...
Read moreOur family of 3 stayed in both the Uh Clem and the Western Wing Downstairs just before the Thanksgiving holiday. Both rooms had beds that were comfortable and have unique bathroom setups. Our son slept on the floor and just barely fit on the inflatable double bed air mattress that we brought with us. The shared kitchen near the western wing downstairs room was wonderful for cooking an evening meal, and eating it out on the upstairs patio was absolutely beautiful watching the sun set. Checking in and out is easy and I can't say enough good things about all the helpful staff. We were able to walk to dinner at the Starlight Theater. It was always delicious, however we had to get in line 30-45 mins before they opened in order to get a seat without a long wait. People who showed up around 5:30 were having to wait up to 2+ hours. It's easy access to Big Bend, with a bit of a longer ride than people staying in Study Butte, but def. worth it for the experience. Photo of mountains we took on a sunrise hike in Chisos Basin (Lost...
