Tiny Terlingua — Hotel in Manuel Benavides

We stayed five nights in Tiny Terlingua (Jan 6-11, 2025) using it as a jumping off point for hiking in Big Bend National Park. Our stay there was wonderful. It was perfect for us, a private getaway close to Big Bend. Carmen, the owner, has clearly thought through all the little details that make staying in any place special. Tiny Terlingua is off a dirt road far enough away from surrounding neighbors to give plenty of privacy. It has all the comforts of home including a cozy loft bed, convenient kitchen area, great outdoor space with comfortable chairs for watching sunrises and sunsets, and a clean and spacious bath and shower

Carmen provided not just any coffee but organic coffee. All the need to know information about her home was at our fingertips. She responded to our messages quickly and completely. The many varied plantings in the yard are clearly cared for with love and attention and make for a beautiful desert landscape surrounding the house. The interior is accented by local art and tasteful furnishings. All these aspects combined to make Tiny Terlingua a space we looked forward to returning to after a long day of hiking.

What elevated our stay at Tiny Terlingua more than anything was the sense that Carmen takes seriously the concept of sustainability and small footprint living. Wir haben das Tiny Terlingua über Airbnb gebucht, aber gerne möchte ich dieses kleine Juwel nochmal auf Google bewerten. Wir haben zum ersten Mal in einem Tiny House übernachtet. Das Gute ist, dass man in Terlingua fast immer schönes Wetter hat, so dass man tagsüber unterwegs sein kann (wir haben beispielsweise 2 Tage den Big Bend Nationalpark besucht) und abends bei einem Lagerfeuer unter der Milchstraße den Tag ausklingen lassen kann. Für Regentage würde ich es eher nicht empfehlen, da man zu zweit und mit großen Koffer wirklich keinen Platz in diesem kleinen Häuschen hat. Sonst ist wirklich alles vorhanden, was man braucht. Das Bad ist dafür sehr groß und auch mit allen möglichen Kosmetikprodukten ausgestattet. Bettwäsche und Handtücher werden gestellt. Außerdem ist es wirklich picobello sauber. Die Gastgeberin ist sehr nett und antwortet immer sofort auf Nachrichten. Außerdem ist das Tiny House sehr gut bei der Navigation mit Google Maps zu finden. Das einzige, was etwas tricky ist, dass das Bett über eine Leiter zu erreichen ist. Das sollte man sich vorher überlegen, ob man sich das zutraut. Außerdem funktioniert das WLAN nicht immer. Uns halt das alles nicht gestört und wir hatten hier eine wirklich schöne Zeit. Das Tiny Haus ist perfekt gelegen um wie gesagt den Big Ben Nationalpark anzufahren und es gibt auch einige Diner drumherum zum frühstücken oder Abendessen. Eine tolle...
