I wish I could no stars. I would not suggest this hotel to anyone. I called months before my wedding to reserve a block of rooms at a discounted rate. Got everything set up fine and no problems. When people started to call the hotel to make reservations, I got a phone call from a relative saying there was not a block of rooms reserved for that weekend under my name. When I called to find out what happened the women at the front desk was very nice apologized and said they had plenty of rooms and would be happy to reserve them, and went to talk to her manager to ask about a rate. When she returned she told me her manager wouldn't make a block of rooms for our wedding because most people don't end up using them anyway. I asked to speak with the manager at this point, but when the front desk associate went to go get the manager, she came back on the phone and told me the manager was firm on her decision and was too busy to talk to me. I was appalled by the rudeness of this manager. I know they make blocks of rooms, and I know they had plenty of rooms available, and I informed them I would be needing at least 20 rooms all of which would be coming, with at least 5 people already reserved waiting to switch to the block. I'm not sure the managers manager would like to hear how much money they missed out on. I am especially appalled that the manager couldn't tell me that herself and made the front desk associate relay the news to someone who is obviously going to be upset. In a business that is all about customer service this was the worst. Thankfully there are plenty of other hotels in this area that were more than accommodating, and luckily we found enough rooms at the Comfort Inn in Marion, IL where the managers were very friendly and helpful and got us the same rate as I was originally quoted. I had everyone who already had rooms at the Best Western Plus switch to the Comfort Inn. I would steer clear of the Best Western Plus and take your business to the Comfort Inn or any other hotel...
Read moreThis has always been a great place to stay… Until now! When we drove into the parking lot and pulled up to the front of the building, there was trash all in front of the entrance which was a red flag. We got checked in, which was a nice experience, Came up to our room and went to get a shower, and there was only warm water not hot. A little frustrating but oh well. When we went to put the do not disturb tag on the door, there isn’t one. In fact, there aren’t any at all in any of the rooms which is a little strange to me because you’re inviting the cleaning staff into your room at any time. when we went down for breakfast this morning, I was trying to make my plate but the man that keeps the breakfast area up to par was impatient and did not want to wait for me to finish making my plate. He was wiping the bar down in front of me and all around me. Keep in mind there were only six people in the dining area at the time it’s not like he was going to have to wait long . As my husband and I are eating our breakfast, he is sweeping the floor right around our table stirring all that dirt up off the floor into our food so needless to say we did not finish eating and threw everything away. The guy sitting behind the front desk had headphones on and was not approachable. The elevator has been out since 4:30 AM this morning so we are having to go down three flights of stairs for breakfast, and then back up three flights of stairs to get back to our room. When we get ready to leave, we will be lugging all of our luggage down the stairs three flights to go, because of course the elevator will not be fixed by then. With all this being said, we will not be staying here ever again. This place has turned out to be a big...
Read moreThe Best Western Plus Marion Hotel was a nice place to stay at, especially for the price. We had to book a place last minute (the same day) so rates were about $120+ a night wherever we looked in Carbondale and the sounding area. We found a room for $89 at the Best Western in Marion for a king room with a queen bed. Of course the only set back then was that we were about 20 minutes outside of Carbondale. The hotel is small compared to a few places nearby. The room and bathroom were very clean. The mattress was the most comfortable hotel mattress I've had in a while. There was a minifridge, microwave, and coffee maker with coffee in the room. Breakfast was included in the price of our stay. We were a little disappointed with the indoor pool area because the hot tub was out of order and had green water. But the pool itself looked fine and there were plenty of people enjoying it. The hotel also has a fitness center that I used. It is very small and consists of a mirror wall, treadmill, elliptical, and I think 2 different weight machines as well as a water cooler and a TV. The fitness center served its purpose, but was nothing special. The staff was down to earth and friendly. Breakfast was good quality typical continental breakfast food but there was not a lot of variety. Breakfast went from 6-9:30 and checkout was at noon. The hotel itself is surrenounded by a few small businesses and is arrived at easily but it is about a 10 minute drive to the nearest mall and 20 minutes to anything you might want to do in Carbondale. All in all I had a good stay and I would recommend jt...
