Pros: Friendly helpful staff Clean beds Clean bathrooms Close to just about anything in Marion Comfortable beds
Cons: Funny smell in the lobby Old building Noisy depending what room you're in No elevator Questionable lock and key situation Dirty chairs in rooms Unsatisfactory breakfast options
It's just okay. My husband and I stayed here twice, 6 days apart, on opposite directions of a road trip.
It's obviously an old building, and you can't get away from that without tearing down and rebuilding. But the rooms were clean. The bathrooms have been updated and were very clean; the bedding, which we carefully inspected was very clean; all the things you expect to find in an average hotel/motel room were there, just not exactly how you would expect. Both times we stayed, the upholstered chair (1) in the room looked very dirty. These definitely need to be replaced.
The only downside of the bathrooms in the minimal counter space. But there were ample clean towels, good water pressure, hot water, clean facilities.
Breakfast is pretty minimal. There are really no protein options. There is gravy available, but my husband who is a very big fan of biscuits and gravy, said the gravy was pretty bad. We did try a pumpkin spice waffle from the waffle maker available on our second visit, and it was pretty yummy.
On our first visit, the keys weren't working for the rooms. The lobby was full of other guests who couldn't get into their rooms, and the motel employee working the front desk had to let us in with a traditional metal key every time we left our room. We weren't crazy about this. When we checked out on the 14th, I asked the morning clerk if the locks were going to be replaced. She said they were scheduled to be replaced on the 19th. Our second stay was on the 20th. The locks had not been replaced on our second stay, but our keys did work the second time.
Would I stay here again? Yes. Because it's a GREAT price, and it's decent and clean enough to get some sleep on your journey. But if I could get a similar price somewhere close that looked nicer, I would probably try that...
Read moreDO. NOT. STAY. HERE. My husband & I are not high-maintenance when it comes to hotels. We love the experience of trying new hotels. This was a cheap hotel price to end our vacation from Michigan back to Arkansas. I wish we had spent more money to go somewhere else, or just simply driven home. This hotel was NOT worth the money.
Our sheets were FILTHY. There were fresh “oil” type stains, a toenail, & many long hairs. The walls were also filthy. It seemed as though the sheets had not even been cleaned whatsoever, possibly within the last 2 stays before us. The lady at the front desk did not even seem surprised when we came to tell her. Thankfully, we got fresh sheets that we put on the bed ourselves (she did offer, though.) There was a disgusting stain on the headboard. My husband & I were not comfortable with any of our personal belongings touching any part of that room. We were only “comfortable” after we cleaned our nightstands & headboard. The carpets have not been vacuumed in a long time. There were long-term dust build-ups in the corners. The TV service did not work. There were many large areas of paint chipped off of the walls. The curtains were FILTHY. My husband was actually concerned they had mold on them. There were crumbs (French fries - not from us) on the desk chair. There was also animal hair (not from us - we did not have an animal.) The lamp had large stains on the shade. The bed had large stains that looked like poop. The bathroom was updated nicely, but the door seemed as though it was going to come off the hinge any second. The hallways were horrible. Stains on the walls. The stairways has not been vacuumed in a very long time. There were LARGE amounts of dust/dirt build-up on the stairways, baseboards, etc. If you come in the back door, prepare for the horrible smell to stain your clothing.
I don’t post this to be hateful, but to warn others to NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! & I truly hope the managers of this hotel read this & take all of this into...
Read moreRoom was barely acceptable, but I had a migraine and couldn’t drive any more. Bathroom was disgusting: moldy floor, broken toilet seat, backed up shower drain. The mattress topper is the only reason for 1 star…it was actually comfortable enough to get some sleep. I did not park where instructed because I did not feel safe and also wanted my car secured under a working parking lot light. Two cars with blacked-out windows were parked outside my room playing loud music ALL night…thankfully the room fan (on high) drowned out the sound. A whole new kind of noise started at 6am as room doors slammed closed in the hallway. Because I was awakened at 6am, I took my dog (yes I paid the $15 fee) outside to potty in the still dark parking lot area. Someone (male) wearing dark clothing & a pulled up hoodie tried to enter the back door of hotel. I believe he was from the music playing car. He was unable to get in that rear entrance, but I was concerned for my safety & for all women who are told to enter through an unmonitored, dark back door. “Breakfast” was nothing special: soggy mini muffins, tasteless orange juice and questionable yogurt. Needless to say I would NEVER stay here again and feel the price was too expensive for such an abysmal setting. As a former hotel/resort GM, I say shame on Wyndham for associating their name with this poorly maintained...
