We attempted to stay at the Riverport Homewood Suites on a Friday night as the other Hilton branded hotel (the convention center in Saint Charles) was full for the night.
The person we spoke with from the convention center was able to secure a room over in Riverport (just across the bridge) so we thought that would be fine as Hilton is Hilton, why not stay there, it should be fine.
When we arrived to the hotel location it took a moment for us to find the path to the hotel parking lot as we thought we were lost in an old office park. We turned into the parking lot with decently over grown grass and parked near the office.
We stepped out of the car the smell hit us right away, the area landfill is well within smelling distance.
While walking towards the building you immediately start to feel that little voice inside you opening their mouth urging caution.
Cleaning should be a priority at this time, how Hilton allows a building to become very noticeably dirty is beyond me.
The entryway was cluttered and needs a light touch of cleaning.
The lobby and hallways did not have that fresh scent one expects in a hotel and while taking in all this you start to notice the building is simply not well maintained. The hallway wallpaper had scuff marks nearly all the way down the hall on each side, perhaps from the housekeeping carts.
We were only in the room for enough time to drop off our bags and take a quick shower (found out the light was not working). We were running late for dinner and was not too concerned about the light at the moment. Stepping out for dinner using the rear door we found that the tall grass apparently surrounds the entire property like a protective cocoon. Other outside attractions included numerous cigarette butts, wrappers, random trash and at least one beer can in the parking lot.
When we returned for the night is when we truly started to notice how bad things were in the room:
As mentioned the bulb was out in the bathroom, but thinking about it, that bathroom light flickered as if the bulb had been going out for weeks or even longer; after housekeeping informs their superior the repair should not take more than one day and certainly completed prior to management allowing this room to be rented.
When we looked around the room in more detail we found a dust bunny patch all along the curtain valance in the bedroom, crushed food on the carpet, a couch that you cannot sit on without sinking into the foldout bed, a cracked sink, a closet you have to fix to use, food debris in the refrigerator and general wear and grime on surfaces in the room.
After finding the general condition of the room questionable we thought it prudent to check for bed bugs, and sure enough, one started crawling across the bed when we pulled back the sheets.
We quickly but carefully packed our belongings went to the front desk to checkout.
The person at the front desk was very polite and understandably understanding of the issue, they honestly looked to be embarrassed about...
Read moreLet me just start by saying as a Diamond Hilton member, this property needs to be stripped of its Hilton name! Do not stay in this rat infested property! If you do and you have an issue the supposed GM Freddie Cleveland will do nothing but offer you a pathetic 5000 points for compensation. Now let me tell you my experience at this disgrace of a Hilton property! My wife and I arrived around midnight Friday night 3/17. I had checked in online earlier in the day and chosen room 324. We stopped by the front desk on our way in to pick up our complimentary water and headed to the room with my digital key. The room was on the other side of the property so not a short walk by any means. We get there and the digital key doesn’t work. So we both head back down to the front desk for key cards which totally negates the convenience of a digital key. The front desk lady apologizes and issues 2 keys. We head back up to our room and upon entering we notice the couch not up against the wall and see something bright yellow behind it. She starts to unpack and I check out the couch situation and notice another one of the yellow things by the ac unit. I reach back to grab the thing and my hand sticks to it!!! It’s a rat glue board!!!! There are also a number of poison feeders throughout the room! And droppings on the floor behind the couch! By now I’m disgusted beyond belief and had it not been 12:30 in the morning we would have walk right back out! So I call the front desk and inquire if the entire property has these items or if there was a non infested room we could be moved to. She moves us to a ground floor room that doesn’t seem to be infested! Upon check out I inquired if we could discuss the billing and the issues I had. I showed the lady the pictures and told her what happened. She went and got GM Freddie and boy have I never been so unimpressed with a Hilton manager as I was with him. I asked if I could get my 16,000 points returned and a $50 credit to my room which was NOT even a full refund. After all Hilton has a satisfaction guarantee that Freddie obviously doesn’t think he needs to follow. Freddie tells me all he will consider is the 5000 points. I ask who I can talk to above him and he states there isn’t anyone, I ask who owns the property and he states it’s private and doesn’t have to give that I information out. I said well credit my 5000 points so I can be on my way and he proceeds to tell me that he’s not doing it now, he’ll do it when it’s convenient for him! This guy is a real customer service piece of work! So again stay here at your own risk and enjoy the pictures...
Read moreMe and my family just stayed here. I didn't realize that the building was just taken over by Larkspur. It seemed very nice when we pulled up and went inside. Everything seemed well kept. When we got in the room we had no towels and the one hand towl that we found had some fake hair on it. We also didn't have bedding for the pull out bed. My wife went up and showed the front desk girl the hair on the towl and asked for towels and bedding. I wish I could remember the girls name but she was disgusted that we had that in our room and apologized. She then couldn't get in the room with towels and bedding. She had one towel and a few hand towels and went to try and get more or get in the room with the extras.
While she was doing that we went ahead and took showers with what we had and made due. While I was takeing a shower the grab handle was rusted off and was just hanging there. I have a artificial leg and sometimes need the handle to move around. So after my shower I went back to find the girl and let her know about the handle. While I was going to the front she showed up at the room with the bedding and towels and my wife showed her the handle issue. So she decided to move us to a new room and take some money off the bill. She was apologizing and vary unhappy with the issues we were having. We got the new room 2 doors down and we just went to bed because we are exhausted at this point.
The next morning my boys and I went to get some breakfast. We bring it back to the room and I'm packing up somethings so we can head home. Im looking for a bag for our dirty clothes and couldn't find anything but as I'm looking in the cabinets I find a bag with some random items and 4 or 5 one dollar bills in it. In another cabinet some candy trash and in another cabinet a plate with popcorn chips and pretzels that looks like its been there for sometime. I woke my wife up and said we are getting out of here.
She went to the front desk to talk to the manager and show him pictures of what we have experienced in our 2 rooms. He was vary apologetic and didn't charge us anything. He informed us that they have just taken over and said that they are trying to get all the issues fixed. He was vary nice and professional. I post this in hopes that he does what he says and get the issues fixed. I don't want anyone to have to deal with what we did. All we wanted was a place to sleep and take a shower after a vary long day and that...
