I have stayed multiple times just in the last year alone. I live in town and in fact help run a small tree removal co. Which we have repeat customers like mayor Jean Stegman,Judge Dan Haas, and Judge Hupey. As well as many residential customers and we pride ourselves in being an extremely honest co. So when I say my last stay really made up my mind in if I will ever spend my hard earned money there again there was an extremely good reason. Again my son and. I were staying in. A room due to a broken pipe in our home and were staying here again and because we had always had positive expierances here before it was a no brainer. Well after the first night there were very slippery walk ways out every door but the front but of course because of convience we always exited the side door located by our room and because I had almsot slipped and fallen I politely went and told the girl at the front desk how bad it was and let her know it was not good. Well I am a smoker so went out the same door multiple times and noticed it was getting worse I went to tell her again cuz the first time she said she would salt it. Well from the looks of ut it hadnt been done and if so close to no salt was put down. Later that evening my son whom is 14 came out the same door as usual to come outside by me and slipped and fell after hearing his scream I walked over by him quickly thank goodness he only scraped his knee and bruised his hand but I. Do believe if he hadnt had his iPhone in his hand to catch his fall he would have broke his hand he was of course shaken up and close to tears I helped him up and we immediately walked around to the front door and talked to the New on shift worker that I had already came up there 2 times once where I was able to tell the girl she desperatly needed to salt the whole sidewalks ,my son covered in water and snow a bit shaken up just wanted to get back to the room as I then went on to ask the new employee if Paula tye manager was gonna be in the following morning cuz my sons iphone screen was snow broken and the phone glitches in and out. She then told me she was fileing a report bout the inccedent after she immediatly went out to salt around the whole motel and extra salt so much u could notice and not worry bout falling along with now a wet floor sign which should have been done in the beginning. The next morning I talked with Paula and after her highlighting the receipt line I signed pointing out there not responsible for any. Lost or stolen property not responsible for any personal injury and yet asked me to see the iphone then said there was nothing they would do about it. My son worked very.hard to buy his own phone, and with one fall, due to them not salting there slippery sidewalk right as the door opens and his phone was used not intentionally to catch his fall is now not useable. Now as a part owner to a company myself yes whats rite is rite and if you had No intent on replaceing the very expensive iphone that you claimed to not be responsible for why even ask to see it, but I did get a very sarcastic thanks for letting there staff know about the ice. I was very calm and collected and never rude during our whole conversation even after I pointed out I know there front desk camera recorded me coming up there so there was proof! Even though my room was paid through till this morning I left an hour after speaking with her yesterday morning!! Due to the incident and how it was handled I will never stay again by choice.. Read moreWhen you’re on the road supporting someone in a blue collar job like welding, you learn that the hotels aren’t always the best I’m not usually the type to complain and I tried to be understanding for my boyfriend’s sake but this experience at the Econo Lodge in Menominee Michigan was honestly the worst I’ve ever had If it wasn’t for him I would never in my life have stayed somewhere like this I couldn’t even believe I let my head touch the bed I had to cover it with my own blankets because the ones they gave us were filthy and stained it was that bad The hotel itself was just nasty there was pee left on the toilet in the hallway and the entire place constantly smelled like weed and I’m a smoker myself but I would never want my space my house or anywhere I’m staying to smell like that it was overwhelming and felt like it was stuck in the walls like people had just been posted up smoking for days with no ventilation On top of that the place felt unsafe there were barely any cameras around the property and that made me extremely uncomfortable at night I barely slept and the only thing that gave me a little peace of mind was knowing there was a police station right across the street otherwise I wouldn’t have felt safe staying there at all The worst part was the staff especially one younger blonde girl at the front desk she was rude cold and gave off such negative energy even when I didn’t speak to her directly you could feel how miserable she was and how much she didn’t want to be bothered by anyone she never smiled never helped and treated us like we were a problem just for being there Then to make it worse she charged my boyfriend’s card twice once correctly for around 450 and then again for over 750 dollars we never got that second charge back and the bank confirmed the issue was on the hotel’s side not ours After days of waiting for an explanation my boyfriend went downstairs to ask what was going on and on his way back up he overheard her talking about him saying things like “that’s on him” and “that’s his fault” like she wasn’t the one who messed it up in the first place it was unprofessional and just nasty behavior The only positive part of our stay was one sweet older woman who worked there and actually went above and beyond to make sure my boyfriend felt taken care of she was kind understanding and did what she could to make his stay bearable and I really appreciated her for that The owner did end up sending my boyfriend a small Cash App for food but honestly that didn’t make up for the stress the disrespect and the feeling of being completely disregarded as paying guests It’s not even just about the money it’s the principle and the lack of basic human decency this place had if you care about your health your safety or your peace of mind I would not recommend...
Read moreBudget hotel. Room was clean but had an odd smell when we arrived. Window could be opened so that helped. Beds were very firm. Hard. Pillows were pitiful, flat and hard. (Three pillows on each double bed). Overall atmosphere is dated, tired, worn. I think some of the rooms closer to the lake may have been renovated more recently.
In room fridge and microwave, single serve coffee maker and ice bucket. We didn’t use the TV but I’m sure it was fine.
Shower was clean. Decent water pressure. Towels are thin and limp. Time to replace them.
Breakfast was more than adequate. There were two kinds of Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches available, ready for microwaving. Bagels, toast, packaged Hostess Danish, yogurt, dry cereal (three kinds), milk, juice, coffee, instant oatmeal packets — there were plenty of options. Breakfast is available 6 am to 9 am (we were there on weekdays so not sure if weekend hours are different).
Be aware there is no elevator. I’m waiting for knee surgery so have difficulty with stairs. We asked upon arrival when we realized there was not an elevator about a ground floor room. (The parking lot was never full during our time there). The only “solution” offered was a room that would have cost over $20 more per night. I struggled up and down the stairs rather than pay the extra.
Another thing to be aware of is there are a couple of extremely loud trains that go through each night. Not the fault of the hotel but just know this fact when choosing your hotel location.
Our room was on the side closest to the highway that goes north/south through the town. It was very loud at all times of the day and night. Something else to think about when making a reservation.
As we were leaving I told the woman at the desk that the railing on the stairway was loose. She didn’t acknowledge my...
