This hotel was undergoing a renovation that had been going on for a year and a half as of the date of our stay. This hotel was completely tore up on all floors. The hallways were full of paint and drywall dust. When we checked in our room was missing furniture, lamps, microwave and clothes hanging rods. We were offered another room, we looked at it and it was no better. The rooms were clearly not ready to be rented out. Previous Holiday Inns I have stayed at in the past while under renovation do one floor at a time so they do not inconvenience the guests. The entire hotel was clearly dated. The furniture looked like it was from the 80's as well as the overall décor of the hotel. It looks as though they waited too long to renovate and they are not very far along for a year and a half. The roof clearly was or had been leaking - you could see stains in the ceiling on the top floor. All outside doors were left ajar so you did not need a key to get in. We were told it was for the contractors but we saw the doors left open as late as 10:00 pm. Some of the cameras were clearly broken and lighting in the back of the hotel was poor due to burned out bulbs. One morning my wife went to breakfast and brought a plate of breakfast up to the room for me and when she went back down to get a cup she was told she had enough food and to leave some for the other guests. I have been an IHG member since 1989, back then they used to call it Priority Club and I have never heard of a limit on breakfast or been approached that way. That seemed rude. We also were asked to change rooms because our shower was leaking on the downstairs ceiling. This hotel clearly waited too long to renovate, has been poorly maintained and after a year and a half of renovation time clearly the renovation is being poorly managed. I think this hotel should lose its IHG franchise as a result. This is the worst Holiday Inn I have stayed at since 1989. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this hotel. If in the area stay at the Holiday Inn in Paducah, KY 4 miles away. We stayed at this hotel for two weeks. We were Hurricane...
Read moreReally disappointing stay at this Holiday Inn. We were tired when we came back to the room, so didn't check it well until the morning. Our room was surrounded by rooms that were under construction. They started construction on the room next to ours at 8:30 in the morning. Thank goodness we were already awake and preparing to leave!!
The hotel was fairly dirty, with multiple dead bugs in light fixtures, hallways that looked as though they had not been vacuumed anytime recently, and elevator walls that had not been wiped down in quite a while.
Our room wasn't terribly clean, either, with hairs and dust in the bathroom corners, a short black hair in the tub, and some very iffy-looking substance on one of the pictures. The curtains were not even hung properly, and when we did get them set right, there were torn spots in the blackout panels.
The floor in our room was a little scary, too, as you could feel dipped and broken spots under the carpet. The toilet paper was single-ply, as well, in a room that cost over $100 a night!
The front desk clerk was also less than pleasant; when I asked for extra blankets, he looked at me like I was crazy and asked why I needed them. He wasn't terribly helpful and seemed in an awful mood anytime I spoke to him.
The locks on the side doors didn't work properly and there were multiple doors left propped open in our hallway, which was somewhat disconcerting. I'd never seen doors to rooms just casually propped open before, especially when no one was staying in them.
The breakfast buffet had a toaster, but no bread; a roll case, but no rolls, bagels, etc; and the juice machine was broken. I ended up having two pieces of sausage and a piece of fruit. When I went to get coffee, the creamers I picked up were clabbered, creating floating white chunks in my coffee.
I understand that some hotels are in old buildings, but I expect much better from the Holiday Inn chain. This hotel is a black mark on the Holiday Inn brand, and we won't ever stay...
Read moreThe staff was friendly when checking in and they still had a breakfast of sorts (prepped brown bags with muffins, OJ, granola bar and oatmeal cup). That is the only reason this place gets 2 stars. The entire hotel smelled musty. The room especially. Our curtains had holes in them and we were on the ground floor facing the front parking lot.....Had small black bugs in the room. Not sure what they were. The fridge had 1 shelf in it, the rest were taken out. They did give us a second set of towels when we checked in. We were informed all rooms are set for one towel unless checking more people. This is a pet friendly hotel but they do not allow dogs to come in from the front door or through the lobby. You have to come in through the side door, where no one is parked and it feels sketchy. Not only that the card reader wasn't working so I had to call the front desk to let them know, front desk said he'd be right there. He took a really long time to come. Called my mom to come open the door for me from the side door. It seems dogs are only allowed in the rooms on the first floor which is ok and we were right by the door. Seems like the front desk forgot about me, because the man came by to help another person and didn't even look at the door to see if someone was still outside. I had to go and tell him the card reader is broken and he said he'd have maintenance look at it in the morning. If you're going to force people to come in from the sides, maybe make sure they can come in through there. The frame of the bed was ancient and creaked with the slightest movement. I slept on the pullout which was fine, but mom felt the frame was going to break on the bed from all the creaking and felt uncomfortable with it. It's sad when the pullout couch is better maintained then the actual bed. Honestly would not recommend it unless you're in a pinch. Paid more money to be at Holiday Inn instead of Quality Inn (also pet friendly) but ended up getting not that...
