The National Avenue Hotel — Hotel in Milwaukee

Five stars for what it was rather than what it wasn't. This was a cheap place to spend a night while in town for Metalfest. I was in the room alone. There was a fridge, microwave, TV, and coffee maker and a private bathroom. All worked well. There are no other frills or off street parking here but the staff was great. The room and the facility in general were very clean. The bed was cheap and would only fit one comfortably but clean and comfortable and the room smelled nice. There was minimal noise in the area outside and inside from other rooms and halls. You get what what you pay for but for the price I was prepared to put my blinders on to some sights and smells and sounds I've experienced in other cheap rooms and those issues just weren't there. There is another hotel a few blocks away that has the same name. That one is actually a rooming house and likely the cause of all the bad reviews (Such as the review by a local guide going by the name XO XO who went to the wrong address). I also accidentally went to the wrong place for my check in appointment. The National Hotel at 1700 National Ave is nothing like these negative reviews I've read.
