avid hotel Madison - Monona by IHG — Hotel in Monona

I've stayed at the avid a number of times and each stay was good enough for me to book again. The bed is comfortable but the pillows leave a bit to be desired: 1 of either type doesn't provide enough support but 2 is too much. The shower is roomy and the showerhead has a couple different setting. Breakfast options are OK, so long as you don't want anything hot other than a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich or a prefabricated veggie omelet. (Those were the only options all 3 days of this stay. Some variety would be nice.) Freshly brewed regular or decaf coffee is good and the hotel provides a good variety of creamers and sweeteners to add. Cold options aren't bad, and a couple kinds of fruit are always included. Rooms aren't soundproof, but only once or twice did I hear enough noise from inside, the parking lot, or the highway to notice. Staff is generally quick to respond to requests from the room, be it bathroom supplies or personal care items, and they're pleasant to deal with although it's hard to find someone at the front desk occasionally. While I was recognized as an IHG Rewards Club member, I wasn't offered the usual water bottle or whatever else it is they're supposed to...

Due to COVID, we stayed here in Christmas Day as well as the following morning in order to limit time at our family’s residence. Our family celebrations occurred early morning, but after about an hour. I called to request early check in and William went above and beyond to find out if this request could be honored. We were able to check in early. It sucked being away from family for the majority of the trip, but our room helped us feel as though we had a mini getaway and time to relax.

I was really pleased with my stay here. I loved that the room was free of carpet (I strongly dislike hotel carpet for sanitary reasons). The room appeared and felt clean. My specific room had an amazing tv with great visual quality and an awesome array of channel options. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the shower quality- the shower had good pressure, a good temperature, and just overall was top notch for a hotel shower. The bed was comfortable and I appropriately sank in. The blackout shades made it so that my partner and I got uninterrupted sleep- we didn’t know what time of day it was. I will definitely stay here during future...

For my first stay at an Avid Brand hotel, I was unsure of what to expect. When I arrived, it was apparent that the facility was relatively new, and everything was in excellent condition. The setup in the lobby was modern and comfortable, with great options for fresh-brewed coffee. Once in the room, I found that this was very similar to the Holiday Inn Express counterparts, but just slightly smaller. But I did not feel that it was uncomfortably smaller, just as if they had removed any unnecessary extra space. My room had a king size bed, with ample room to walk around, a nice desk below the TV to work at, and enough space to store/use a suitcase or travel luggage. The bathroom was nice sized, and the shower was great, even though it was probably 25% smaller than the average.

The part that I found excellent was the value for what you are getting. This hotel was 40% less per night than the other IHG properties in the area. While my company pays for these stays and I have full discretion on how much to spend and where to stay, I found that the value that this provided was well worth any diminished size...
