Garvey Inn — Hotel in Monterey Park

Room is definitely not cleaned and only wiped in certain areas. Walls are filled with dirt marks, if you look under the bed you’ll see it’s never been cleaned and things from past guests are left there (which is gross). When we walked in the bathroom they left the last guests old toilet paper roll did not bother to change it. Bathroom door did not lock. You can definitely tell they only want to profit and not invest on anything. During our stay we were never bothered until the very end. Some of us started taking our luggage downstairs. When I went down there some lady creepily staring asked me if we were in room … and I said yes but we’re not done and haven’t checked out yet. Couple mins later while we were organizing the luggage in the car we see someone in our room. I immediately go in there and it’s the same old lady and she’s looking through our stuff and she starts talking to me ab the controller. She had the batteries in the controller and tried to blame us for the cover that was never there in the first place. First of all who wants the back of a controller… especially when the tv is so outdated and older than me😹 She was telling me to look for it right now lol ? Tried telling her to leave we still had a lot of our stuff in our room and told her we haven’t checked out. She was just awkwardly staring at us and still kept looking on our room while we were there finally it got through to her head that she needed to leave. After that all of us started looking to see if she took anything and we noticed that she took our cash we left in there. Out of nowhere she Js opens the door and walks in without knocking. Disgusting. Walking in and initially inspecting the room, I knew for a fact it was going to be a no. We stayed in room 304 and it was disgusting. Dirty hand smear marks all over the walls (every wall in the room and bathroom), the glass on mirrors wasn't cleaned at all and those are gross but nitpicking things. The lampshade by the bed had this HUGE stain, that they saw and intentionally hit facing the stain to the wall. You can tell they didn't mop or even sweep the floor we're disgusting. There was splatter on another lamp shade handle. And when we opened the curtains I was ready to run out of the room at that point. What looks like stabbed holes all throughout the curtain. And before anybody says anything about shadows. We saw the holes ourselves. They were holes in our curtains. Our room looked NOTHING like the photo advertisement. We left immediately, I didn't even feel it was clean enough to sit on the furniture. Telling the kid at the desk that the room was livable and that we were leaving and would be canceling our reservation through Airbnb booking he looked shocked and embarrassed when I told him about the state of the room. We were there 10 minutes before just making the 6 hour drive to go back home. Definitely ruined the trip. DO NOT BOOK! This place has comparable to a homeless shelter or a sleazy motel you pay for by the hour. Not worth $120 for lazy housekeepers and cheap owners to simply walk in and change the bedding and leave. Save yourself the trouble, it's flat...

On my first day there, I called up room service for an extra pillow. Nobody showed up at all during our 3 day stay. Apparently the front desk was also the room service. I smelled cigarette smoke every time we exit the room. FYI we had an infant checked in with us. I disliked the fact that the male cashier (from front desk) smoking all the time there. The premises are not that big, so when someone smokes, you can smell it anywhere from the hotel.

There were no electrical outlets by the bedside table. The TV remote didn't work. The AC smelled foul. The lotion dispenser was clogged and useless. The shower faucet was old and unadjustable. The breakfast selection was limited (even if you go early). There were tea eggs, vegetarian buns, congee, preserved vegetables, ham, waffles and fruits.

The bottom of my feet turned black within half an hour after we checked in. While the cleaning lady was doing her job, I noticed that she was using the same grey-colored towel for everything. She even used it on the floor and toilet! The cleanliness is a question here. If you afford it, go to a...
