I’ve stayed here before, and it’s been a work in progress. But the biggest changes have been cosmetic, not in overall functionality or service. That’s disappointing.
I had not one thing wrong with my stay, not two, or three, or even four… not even FIVE, but SIX significant issues with my stay and room. I didn’t complain about any of them to the front desk, simply because there were too many too quickly, it was overwhelming, and I didn’t want to ruin my stay more by being THAT kind of guest.
But here I am, telling all of you, willing to let the world (and corporate) know this is unacceptable for the La Quinta brand.
On the positive side, a good 6-9 breakfast, friendly staff (when they were around), decent pluses like bathrooms, pool, business center and workout room. And a good vending/ice setup. Plus the new carpeting and paint job went well with the lighting. This hotel was not LOOKING this good in years past - it was sketchy then. My complaints now are all operational and hygienic… and safety related:
From my arrival it took almost 10 minutes for me and two other guests to see a human being. The woman behind me walked around shouting for someone and gave up. The gentleman who finally arrived was very nice, but was he alone on premises, at 7pm?
After getting my key, I entered elevator 1 (because two was shut down with an “IS 4”) error, and the door barely opened. (Video) it took 2-3x longer to go up one level, and the door opened so slowly I hoped I wouldn’t get stuck. This was never fixed during my four day stay. It was a running joke with guests on my floor, most of whom were using the steps now.
My room looked nice enough, new paint job, carpeting, etc. but the bathroom sink barely drained. A simple hand wash took 30 secs to drain. (Video)
The shower had something biological growing in the corners. (Pic) This could have been mold, or maybe a foreign object dried onto it, but I wasn’t going to wipe it and remove it to find out. It was there every evening I returned to my room, meaning the cleaning staff wasn’t wiping down the shower.
The Internet was so awful that I kept having to try logging in every 5-10 min. Working on my laptop was a chore, as zoom calls were impossible and my VPN kept disconnecting. Cell service was bad enough I couldn’t use its WiFi, so I had to work from the Starbucks in town. My watch, my laptop, my phone, and obviously the TV all had issues connecting to the Internet. Speaking of…
The TV didn’t work (pic), either on its own or with internet apps. It said it was searching for DTV signals but also couldn’t find a Roku connection. I was unable to use my tv my entire stay.
The ungrouted bathroom tiles and loose floor boards were a known problem from the past, and didn’t really inconvenience me, so I didn’t list them in the six deficiencies above. But corporate needs to get on this location to keep their place working. Motel 6 has better accommodations than this. At least I can watch tv and hold an Internet connection.
And for the love of God, have at least ONE quality working elevator for when one goes down, and find a way to fix it over the course of a week.
I stay at La Quintas, at times knowing it’s a comfortable bargain, but this was more trouble than it was worth. I nearly left for the Holiday Inn, but it was booked up. Do better La Quinta MP. I won’t be back though. Time for...
Read moreUsually I would give my stay at this hotel 4 or 5 stars (I have family there and visit often) but my recent stay March 12th-13th and the aftermath of that has earned this stay a 2 star rating. While in town for a funeral...I dealt with the list of things...In the words of my mother we should have cancelled and went over to Hampton Inn & Suites. I went outside the box since this trip I traveled with my two children and my mother and booked the queen suite. When I checked into my room it was not ready!
my room was located next to the meeting room where a birthday party was being held for a 2yr old...while I am trying to put my 2yr old down for a much needed nap) LOUD MUSIC, CANNOT HEAR TV, NO NAP FOR TRAVELING TODDLER!!! The front desk sent two ladies to the room who were speaking angry things under their breath about the room already being cleaned etc...(they should know other races speak Spanish as well). One of them told my mom there was nothing they could use to wipe off the VERY VISIBLE food stuck on the chairs or the table. We cleaned that also and the couch. Below are a list of all I could remember and reported to the front desk. *Sticky finger prints on the cabinets, microwave, frig , table, phone, food also in those same areas and the wall by the kitchen (we cleaned) *Batteries and back missing from Sony bedroom remote as well as remote to turn cable tv gone. (Front desk solved) *Unable to have access to extra pillows (no rhyme or reason when I saw pillows in the area where they kept linens) *Slow bathtub drain (purchased cleaning product myself to try to solve) impossible to shower with water rising. DIRTY TUB! I SUSPECT BC OF THE SLOW DRAINAGE, HOUSEKEEPING SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS UPON CLEANING THE ROOM/BATHROOM. *Closet door broken (reported, not solved during my stay, hopefully maintenance is on this) unable to use this aspect of my trip *Couch and chairs dirty with visible food (we cleaned) *Room smelled of smoke (I will travel with more air fresheners next time around) HOTEL IS NON-SMOKING… *Hole in the carpet by window (reported to front desk, we had no animal with us) Also the phone needs replacing it was full of dirt(the paper in the phone is brown) I might suggest a check list for the cleaning crew before they leave a room. I have not heard from management in regards to my stay other than, she received my email and when I called I get the run around and also declined calls. I might add she asked for my number to speak to me and a best time to call and I provided that information (anytime…it’s my cell). I did express in my email I feel what I paid for the room was not worth it because I spent so much time...
Read moreAfter bad experiences with La Quinta in SanAntonio a year ago, we decided to give La Quinta another chance to show the good quality stay experience for the trip, we stayed 3 nights in La Quinta Hot Springs AR. and 1 night at La Quinta Mt Pleasant. At Hot Springs = bad experience for not having hot water for shower ( there were hot water at the first night but not very steady provided. Warm water at second night for first few minutes, than turned cold. NO hot water at all on 3rd night). This was already disappointed me due to temperature was below 30F outside, I really would like to have hot water shower to warm up. We were hoping there is noting wrong at Mt Pleasant hotel, BUT YES! There is always something wrong to this Hotel, the TV didn’t work, the fan circulation in Bathroom didn’t work, the bathroom was full with stink smells after we took shower and hang the wet towels plus swimming suits... We didn’t let the hotel staff know since we were only stay for one night and not really bother to change room again ( which was suggested by hotel staff at Hot Springs hotel with NO HOT WATER ISSUE ).
SO NO TV for the night at lease we thought the WiFi should work... well WiFi is working “alright” but not steady enough. My phone keep showing no internet connection many time during the night.
After 4 nights with La Quinta, the ROOM quality for the ‘HARDWARE’ PARTS are just not good enough, it looks like the maintenance department doesn’t check to make sure the room is going to function properly (the hotel might comment: “ we have hundreds of rooms we can not be sure everything works...”). Well...Not every guest will check if there is hot water for shower or if the TV is working (....or what ever... ) when first enter the room before start pull things from luggage. And “CHANGING ROOM” is not a good solution, because it is a big work for me to unpack and repack everything after I found problems in the room after few hours later.
SO NO LA Quinta...
