Baymont by Wyndham Mukwonago — Hotel in Mukwonago

First night staying at the hotel my family and I got in a little later. As soon as we got settled in, my fiancé and I wanted to watch tv. We couldn’t get the tv to work so we called down to the front desk. This was the conversation…

Receptionist: Lobby Me: yes, hi. We’re upstairs and we just noticed that the tv isn’t working R: oh you have to hit the input button on the remote Me: there isn’t one R: Yes there is. What kind of tv is in that room? Do you have a little box on your entertainment center? Me: yes R: what is it flashing? Me: it’s not. There’s no light on it. R: oh well then you gotta figure out how to plug it in. I wish our maintenance people were here to help you, but they’re not here anymore Me: oh okay. So you’re okay with me moving entertainment center to figure out why the box isn’t flashing and the tv isn’t working? R: yeah Me: okay. Thanks.

I hung up the phone.. and the receptionist calls back

R: before I was hung up on.. I was about to say that if you move the entertainment center, you have to move it back before you check out…

Besides this VERY ridiculous conversation. It’s the principle of the matter.

And they charged the card I used to hold the hotel, and not the card we gave them to charge.

Needless to say we will not be back.

Maybe this stuff sounds like petty reasons.. but the customer service...

This is a plain inexpensive basic hotel in Mukwonago. Keep your expectations down. Good points: clean sheets, hot water, nice staff, easy access to highway, low end restaurants were close, lots of pillows, comfy king bed, not all lumpy, small fridge , microwave, coffee pot, free breakfast, clean carpet so no black feet when you walked on it. Not so good points:elevator was broke for our entire stay, towels were clean but not fluffy, one towel had a hole in it, pillows were very squishy & soft, we could hear some traffic from the road, only had one bar of soap that disenigrated after one use, shower floor was slippery, no closet, just a rack with a couple of hangers, TV operation was way messed up, but staff came & helped, had to ask for iron & board, iron was OK the ironing board was super wobbly but clean. This hotel could use some TLC like filling in holes/cracks & getting a fresh paint job. We didn't use the in-room ac unit. I know there was a pool, but we didn't use it. There was a pop machine & a snack machine. Snack machine needed to be filled. The town is small & we needed to be close in, so used this hotel. It is NOT a "four star". It is a hot water & clean sheets...

The stay there was nice, comfortable bed. However we checked in at 1pm and after the lady at the desk put our cc on hold for incidentals said she forgot to mention that there was a $10 fee for early check in and was going to be applied to our bill(never heard of this before). There was no signage anywhere in the lobby for this nor on the website. The next morning when we checked out at 8:30, I did notice the sign for check in was at 3 pm, check out at 11am. So I kindly asked her that since we were charged $10 for checking in early, can that be refunded since we were checking out early. She said that has never been brought up before and I would have to further research it. Then she said but since I asked so nicely that she would refund the $10 to the card. Keep in mind, it is not the dollar amount but the principal. Not sure how many rooms are there, but the hotel seemed to be pretty full that night and at $10 a pop for early check in, that's a nice little profit. I do appreciate what was done for us but a fee for early check in is...
