Stayed this past weekend and loved the hotel and room. The view from the 8th floor was great looking into the lake/bay area with the ships. Parking across the street was convenient and free. We had another vehicle in the free parking structure too! Whatever fragrance is sprayed in the lobby via diffuser smells SO good! Dinner Friday night was great! The spinach artichoke dip was phenomenal; probably one of the best I've had! Our guests had a burger, beet salad (looked delicious) Veggie bake, Cesar salad, grilled cheese sandwich and the warmed spinach salad. The spinach salad was requested with no bacon dressing or bacon in the salad, yet it still came out with bacon bits. We didn't get a chance to check out the Starbucks (limited hours) by the bar or the gym area. Breakfast buffet for $13 was decent and better than anticipated - scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage, gravy/biscuits, french toast and pancakes. Drinks were included. Just a few minor complaints. Hotel restaurant is open until 11 but was disappointed that when we ordered drinks & apps at 9:45 and 15 minutes later, the bar tender came back and said oh sorry, the kitchen shut down. We can't get your app but here's your soup. He proceeded to let us know that he got yelled at when he put the order in and the cooks were working 12+ hours.. Not once were we told the kitchen was shutting down and it would've been great to know prior to ordering otherwise we would've gone elsewhere. Secondly, breakfast buffet doesn't provide any bread options for their sides nor did they have any cereals/milk. No toast, bread, bagels/cream cheese, etc. Its just the biscuits. They did have fresh fruit and granola though. I was put off when a bunch of early 20 somethings came in doing tiktok videos by the bar, barefoot and were being loud. We did get out of there as soon as we could. I would definitely recommend the hotel itself. Room was clean and tidy (requested specific pillows and towels and the staff did supply those,) bathroom was a bit small, but bright, beds were comfy and I didn't hear anyone else in our hallway. Front desk was SUPER friendly and answered all our questions through the Marriott App. Thank you Delta Marriott for the...
Read moreWe have been traveling for work for the past 3 plus years. Living out of hotels during this time. Today, we arrived early and wanted to see if we could check in. (Working third shift, arrived at 9:00am) . Some hotels say nothing ready yet, and we slept in the car for a few hours since we worked the third shift at the local hospital in the area. This time, they said our room was ready, and they gave my wife the keys. As I was loading up the cart at the car, she told me that the hotel charged her $80 because we had arrived before the check-in time of 3:00pm. We took our bags to the room and she went to bed. I sat in the lobby about 15 feet from the front desk for three hours. I watched and listened to everyone checking in early and never heard anyone getting charged $80 extra. Keep in mind that we had prepaid online with points because we have hundreds of thousands of points about to expire. So the room was already paid for, the room was ready but they still charged her 80$ because she arrived early. So after watching for hours, I approached the desk and asked as to why we got charged 80$ and no one else got charged in the past hours. It was still an hour before the posted check-in time, but dozens of guests have checked in. The gentleman didn't know what I was talking about, but the young lady spoke up and said the reason was that we arrived before the posted CHECK OUT time. Then I questioned as to why all the other people who had checked in before this time were not charged this, and she couldn't answer. She said her manager told her to charge this fee. She said she was going to go get this mystery manager but never came back with a manager. I also asked if this policy of charging guests an extra 80$ for arriving early was in writing somewhere, but they could not or would not produce it for me. I called their corporate office, and they couldn't answer why they were charging this fee. At first, I thought they thought I was asking if they charged extra for early arrivals because he said no, they don't, but I explained they did charge me, and he had no explanation. This place is a money grab if you are paying with points,...
Read moreThis is the best hotel I've been in since being homeless. The rooms were beautiful and everything smelled clean. The staff are all very accommodating. We stayed here for two months and had no issues. None of the staff started looking at us funny after seeing us for more than a few weeks. The front desk people were very helpful and a majority of the guests were quiet and courteous. Emily was the most helpful and deserves at least 5 raises. They have certainly changed this old Hilton around into easily the bougiest place in Muskegon. I only have a few concerns and complaints to address. Because of the location, my car ended up getting broken into twice. Security apparently goes home at 4AM and they don't have another shift to replace them. The thief stood inside the hotel waiting for security to leave so that he could steal from me. I don't own anything so they didn't take anything of value. But I still felt stripped of my privacy. There is one single microwave in this entire 8 story hotel. There should be one in each room. Eating cold cut sandwiches most nights is incredibly expensive and going down for dinner would be more expensive. It would be one thing if their elite pantry was up and running but it isn't. They've had the renovation sign up since I checked in a month ago and seemingly haven't done anything to it. Some of the housekeepers seem to not know what they have in the kitchen or what dishes they provide to each room. I bought a generic pair of mugs for my partner and I so that we didn't have to keep asking for paper cups and one was taken and put in their kitchen during a room cleaning. I didn't see that cup until I told them they either need to compensate me for it or return it. I can understand that it was an honest mistake because the mug kinda matched the hotel decor but it was missing for two days. With the price of this hotel, I'm appalled there's no continental breakfast. Cheaper hotels in the area have continental breakfast. We placed a $250 deposit on this room and couldn't even get free breakfast. Even complimentary fruit in the lobby...
