My wife and I were visiting my nephew who lives in Nacogdoches, Texas on our way to Kansas. My wife found the Hardeman House Bed and Breakfast and we were very pleasantly surprised. The home is a beautiful Victorian home with a large wrap around porch decorated with all the gingerbread that you would expect in a stately home as this.|The interior had a large sitting room with a large dining room for their breakfast the next morning. Of particular interest to me, one of the other guests couldn't have milk products also and the hostess made it very easy to accommodate that request.|Prior to breakfast, we met the other guests in the sitting room and to say the least, no one was in a hurry to move to breakfast as the company was so delightful. The hostess let us enjoy our conversations probably longer than she normally would have but we were having such a good time she hated to interrupt. The breakfast was worth the interruption though.|The owner was extremely pleasant. The room was exactly what you would expect from such a historic home but with all the current amenities that we are used to. It was beautiful, with its 4 poster bed and decorations that represented the era and location of the home. The room was quite large also.|There were plenty of restaurants within walkable distance and a local brewery was 2 blocks away and well worth the visit.|When we go back, and we will, I will continue to use the excuse that my nephew's dog is too aggressive to stay there so we can stay at the Hardeman House Bed and Breakfast again. Long live his dog so we don't have to come up with...
Read moreThe best stop on our multi-state vacation, that almost didn't happen. We were traveling through multiple states with one or two night stays here and there. Hubby thought he had made reservations, only for us to arrive at around 8:30 in the evening and realize that the owners didn't have a reservation for us. Turns out, we never actually made the reservation we thought we did. Kim was super accommodating, and offered to set us up with a room if we could just give her about half an hour to get things settled. We popped out to get something to eat and she had things all set upon our return. The room was beautifully furnished, and the bed was the most comfortable one we had during our whole 10 day trip. The room was very clean and plenty large enough for sleeping or sitting to enjoy a good book. The hallway area between the rooms had a nice assortment of DVD's for us to use, as well as other niceties such as water, and a little refrigerator. Breakfast was amazingly flavorful and well rounded. All this at a very reasonable price. The other two couples staying at the home were friendly and everyone was so quiet during our stay that I almost thought we may have been the only ones there. It's a bit of a far trip from our home in St. Louis, otherwise this would certainly be a B&B we would return to again. Thanks again to the owners for putting up two weary travelers without a...
Read moreThe Hardeman House is a beautiful home with a large veranda that is an inviting place to sit and have a morning cup of coffee. I had a wonderful stay that was made better by Kimberly and Michael, I was greeted with warm inviting smiles. Kimberly gave a quick run down of what to expect in the accommodations at Hardeman, my stay in the Davey Crockett room was very clean, spacious, and cozy. Kimberly had coffee ready in the beautiful coffee bar area for the early risers if wanted(just let her know). You can even take advantage of the very nice, hand made, Hardeman House porcelain mugs for purchase(I did for my wife). I had a wonderful breakfast with eggs, bacon, muffin, OJ, and mixed fruit. The town square is just a walk away where you can find Dolli’s Diner or Fredonia Hotel for a wonderful lunch, this is also where you find the Nacogdoches visitors center. If you are a guy in need of a hair cut you can get a good reasonably priced hair cut at Milford’s barber shop(cash or check only), just put your name on the list and they will get to you quickly. I would highly recommend these, and many more places not mentioned, in and around Nacogdoches, as a getaway spot for those looking for rest, antiques, fishing(Lake Nacogdoches or Lake Naconiche), parks, azalea trail, SFA arboretum, walking...
