I was recently in the market for a full or queen size bed for my guest bedroom. Seeing as it will not be used often and I just purchased my first home, I was sticking to a tight budget and wanting to find the best deal possible. I started my search at Mattress King because they’re a locally owned business that I was hoping to support if the price was right. Michelle was extremely informative when it came to all things mattresses and spent time explaining everything in detail. I was torn between a full and a queen and left the store to measure my room and to ponder the purchase.
To be honest, I did shop around at two other stores but was not impressed with their deals nor their customer service as I truly felt I was in wonderful hands with Michelle and Mattress King. I ended up calling the store per Michelle’s instruction to purchase the queen package - bed, box spring, frame and delivery. Unfortunately upon delivery the men did not have my frame and said it was not a part of my order. After some back and forth with the associate at the store, the owner, and Michelle who was not at the store during all of this, I did end up receiving the frame. However, they wanted to charge me an additional fee for the frame although I was under the impression that what I paid for was the entire package as discussed in store. It was a bit messy playing phone tag and going through a chain of people and there were a few moments of frustration when they said they’d give me the frame for the $80 but “waive the delivery of the frame” which was frustrating as I had already paid the $80 delivery fee under the assumption it would all be delivered! But at the end of the day they made it right and delivered and assembled the frame at no additional charge (as discussed since day 1 in store and what I thought was the plan).
I think the situation could’ve been handled better and smoother but I do appreciate that they did what was right and took care of their customer. And because of that I would definitely recommend them for future mattress shoppers. I just hosted my first 3 guests in my new home and they were all satisfied...
Read moreUPDATE: your response below is factually inaccurate and completely dodges the fact that you didn’t deliver what I paid for and refuse to give me my money back and you don’t return a customers calls or emails. 1) Never once did you mention I was getting a credit for my old box spring. Not once. In fact your policy, which you stated below, is that you DONT refund people’s money for their box springs if they have any issue with their mattress during your 4 month “trial period”. So why on earth would I think I was getting a credit if you never told me? The ONLY thing you communicated was that I owed $120 for new box springs. 2) I have not received the new box springs but you refuse to refund my money. That is theft. 3) you don’t return any of my calls or emails on the matter the way a reputable, responsible business would. I’ve had to file a complaint with my credit card company and the better business bureau because of this horrible and dishonest experience.
I was supposed to receive a mattress and box springs. They delivered the mattress but I didn’t take the box springs. I’ve contacted the store half a dozen times by phone and email re: getting refunded for the box springs and they have completely ignored me. It’s basically theft. Our in-store experience was fantastic—relaxed, informative, and not an uncomfortable hard-sell environment like other mattress stores we visited. We ended up purchasing a Cal King Stearns and Foster mattress. We told the manager that we had previously ordered a similar Stearns and Foster mattress from Costco but the delivery people were not able to get it up the stairs. The manager said, “They weren’t our guys,” and assured me that if there was already a Cal King up there (which there was) that his guys could do it. Well, the delivery guys (Matty and Larry) just left after successfully and flawlessly getting the mattress up our tricky old staircase and into our room. I could tell it was extremely challenging and taxing, but they did it without hesitation and without a complaint.
