I don't understand the reviews. I see they always seem to be busy and I've been wanting to like this place. I've been here three times for breakfast and each time was a disappointment.
The first trip I thought the food was barely OK. Nothing to brag about. The second time I came here I had family visiting from Corpus. They saw good Facebook reviews and they specifically wanted to come here to this restaurant. Not one person in my party thought the food was that great. To make matters worse, a cricket was found in the Barbacoa. Things happen and I don't fault the restaurant and not the reason why I giving low rating. The food was just OK. The manager claimed to throw the whole batch away but no one in my party believed it.
The third time was today and I had Migas plate. The Migas came topped with a Ranchero sauce and melted American Cheese. These two items were not int he written menu description and if it was I would have asked them to leave it out. I don't like American Cheese since I prefer cheddar instead. Just my personal preference. The eggs were undercooked and the corn tortillas were not fried crispy. The whole thing was just a soggy undercooked mess.
The waitress was very slow and not attentive. When I finally got her attention (and it was not too busy), she offered to have the cooks remake the food. I agreed reluctantly and she handed the plate back to be remade. She returned a few minutes later and asked if I wanted something else.
I suspect much of the food are cooked in large batches and the migas got soggy from just sitting there. So in their view it was "cooked properly". On the plus side, I thought the restaurant was roomy and clean. The flour tortilla was pretty good. They had diet Dr. Pepper from a fountain which is my drink of choice. I've been really wanting to like this place but I don't think I'll be back in a long time. There are other restaurants in the area that sell better cooked food IMO. At least for the type of tacos I...
Read moreWe had stopped here to grab breakfast after church. The place was packed, even the drive through had folks waiting. I had to laugh at the family that drove their golf cart through the drive through. I had looked around and folks had this huge breakfast tacos. I thought for sure that the tacos could not be that big. I opted for a migas taco with guacamole. It was $4.00 and some change, not to mention the up charge for the guacamole. Our service brought us drinks in styrofoam "to go" cups, which was nice. When the taco came out, it was HUGE. I am glad I did not opt for a second one. The flour tortilla was thick and chewy. My only complaint is what is up with the American Cheese? I get it that is a "cost thing". This place should start using cheddar cheese in their breakfast tacos. When you add "American Cheese", it takes away from the flavor of the breakfast taco. I literally had to drown my taco in hot sauce. I ended up eating my taco open face. I was unable to finish it, as it was so large. We had also gotten a Babacoa taco on corn, which was fantastic.
The Service was not bad being it was Sunday and they were moderately busy. The host kept trying to sit everyone at the table that was directly in front of the door. We opted to sit further back. I would have given this place 5 stars if it was not for the American Cheese fiasco. There is NOTHING "Mexican" about American Cheese on your taco. The tortillas are home made, which is a bit plus. The eggs were fluffy and not dry, like you get at some Mexican food places. The salsa was flavorful, but not over powering. I did see the server bringing chips and salsa out to tables. Apparently, that is not "complementary", you have to pay for that. This place overall was not bad. It was not the best breakfast taco place I have been to. I was a little surprised at the awards they had received that were...
Read moreMy wife and I have given this place opportunity time and time again, but we’re officially DONE. The food is usually great (our favorites being breakfast tacos), but the service is just not worth the time or money. I believe it’s a managerial issue, and their seating system is not efficient. This last time, we walked in and waited 2 minutes before someone told us we could sit where we wanted. So my wife and I went and sat down at a table. Waited another 5 minutes for a waitress to come up with chips and salsa for the table just to ask us if “CASH ONLY” was doable. My wife and I both looked at each other like “ummm, no we only have debit/credit cards”… because you know “2022”. So I explained to the waitress no we don’t have cash, but just cards, but I explained that PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or any other virtual payment system in existence was on my phone and I could pay like that. She then proceeded to tell me that was not doable and that it’s either cash or no service. So my wife and I got up and left after 8 minutes wasted because this business ONLY accepted cash. 1st). If they had just let us know before we were seated and wasted 8 minutes of our time that their system was down and only cash was acceptable, that’d be fine and I would not write this review. 2nd). We’ve frequented this place numerous times and there were obvious solutions to the problem (I.e. cash app, pay pal, Venmo) in which we could have paid for our meals. Anyways, we’ve had problem with the service before here and I’m officially done giving them my business. Again, not the staffs fault in my mind, but clearly a poorly managed business. That is it. I...
