Pros- 10 mins from Lake Michigan/New Buffalo 10-mins from Four Winds Casino 15-mins from Three Oaks and 25 mins from Michigan City. 3 Mins from 2 Dispensaries There’s a MD’S, Gas Station and a food place inside the gas station. Host are nice, Entrances is welcoming, free breakfast in the morning (which was ok) Rooms are a nice size, clean bedding, not a long overwhelming walk from elevators.
Cons- watch your credit/debit card there will be a $10-$20 charge on it which they say will go back to your card and mine still has not. THERE IS NO HOT TUB/WHIRLPOOL like it showed on their website. The pool is very small, water is cloudy, the table and floors in the pool rooms were dirty, garbage cans are full, the white Claw can when we first got there was still laying under the chair when we left. The elevator smelled like a cigarette and was dirty. Tried to call the front desk because someone’s child was jumping off the bed on the forth floor shaking the ceiling but no answer. DO NOT ASK FOR A REFUND BECAUSE IT WILL NOT HAPPEN!! A man and his wife were looking forward to the hot tub they displayed on their website and booked the room because Fourwinds didn’t have one. They were very upset when they seen there was no hot tub. Parking lot is small too, if you leave just know you’ll park in the back and will need to walk around the building to get in. There are only 2 towels in the bathroom so bring more if you need them because they are hard to come by. There was no blow dryer in the bathroom either. Your view will be of the highway as well. You will also hear the cars, semis, trucks and such going by.
Over all Lisa was very kind when I️ went to check out, I’m not going to yell at someone who just got there.
However management needs to really get their butts in gear because they will lose business over the smallest things. Take the photo down of the hot tub because its faults advertisement. Dont charge people’s cards without letting them know first. You really need to clean the pool and turn the heat up in it because the water is freezing, even if kids like it. Keep the areas cleaned, it’s not hard, if someone isn’t happy with their stay give them a refund for something even a comp for a room. Maybe keep kids on the second floor so people can sleep without the circus happening above others who need...
Read moreThis hotel is being renovated, so I don't know if this is the final product, but we would not stay here again. We were in town for a wedding and while the lobby is nice, our room was not. The mattresses were just awful. I'm a bit picky since I had back surgery, but I woke up in pain all night long.
The shower is super narrow. My ten year old daughter could barely turn around without bumping her elbow. I kept knocking all the items I placed on the (handy) shelf because the stall was so narrow. No night light. And, a personal pet peeve in hotels for me, the only mirror is across a deep counter top in the bathroom and I am both short and blind as a bat: I could not see to apply make-up. Not very home-away-from-home.
It was not very clean. There was a dried leaf on the floor. It was big. Even I could see it, and as I mentioned: blind as a bat. The duvet on my daughter's bed had what looked like lipstick on it, right up by where her face was. So gross.
The free breakfast was typical but not plentiful. I saw a kid filling up her plate, and she was heaping the food on, let me tell you. It was a bummer because the scrambled eggs were almost gone and not warm, the salsa was scraping the bottom of the jar, and the bagels and bread were nearly empty. Then I saw her go into the kitchen! She was an employee, out eating while most of the buffet was empty or nearly so. And it was like 9:15am, it was open for another 45 minutes. They might allow the employees to eat leftovers, but surely that would not be at the expense of paying guests?
We asked for extra pillows and towels and the desk person acted like we were demanding they sacrifice a goat in the lobby. When the pillows were delivered to our room, the dude just basically chucked them at us with the pillowcases separate.
All in all, this hotel can't afford to be this bad with all the competition. It's a beach town, there are other hotels, motels and vacation rentals available. I realize that it's right next to a dispensary, but all of the guests won't be partaking. Some of us are aware of our surroundings.
Did I mention...
Read moreWe booked six rooms for family and friends at this recently renovated Fairfield Inn & Suites. Upon entering the lobby you can smell the freshness and newness of the facility. This area, by the way, is huge and welcoming, very clean. Check in was prompt, friendly and as we made our way to our rooms we noticed that the hallways were also quite nice, with comfortable temperatures. ||The surprise was when we entered our rooms. My 2 Queen Bed Suite, called a studio suite on the website, was much more spacious than imagined. Lovely seating area, large bath and bedroom with a small area for mini fridge and microwave. Too bad there were no bathroom fans and no upgraded higher toilets in any of our units. The sofa bed is really nice, comfortable and one can sleep on it without having to let it out/open. Beds were comfortable with light bedding linens (could have used a blanket) but just turned the thermostat off. There is also a very small area in the lobby where pop/soda can be purchased.||Breakfast is the usual fare, two types of coffee offered (Classic and Bold) with Classic being quite good.||The Hotel is set in a quiet area with three dispensaries nearby. There is also a McDonald's restaurant within walking distance which opens till 11:00 pm. The small downtown New Buffalo shops are located about ten minutes away from this Hotel.||The shuttle is available for those wishing to go to the casino but does not offer services to the small shopping area. The driver was personable, friendly and shared town information during the ride.||We did not receive any room services during our visit, not even towel replenishments. The pool is small, as other reviewers have mentioned. I still recommend because of all the pluses vs minuses.||Very quiet, laid back touristy town with a very good visit to the Fairfield Inn. Finally, the overall spaciousness of this facility...
