I'm delighted to update my review to 5*. Parking was a breeze and front desk staff was excellent. The young gentleman who checked us in was very knowledgeable and helpful. The room (313) was spacious, quiet, stylish and exceptionally clean. Bed and bedding were very comfortable and I was happy to see the soft down pillows. AC worked GREAT and the shower had great pressure.
PREVIOUS REVIEW. The hotel has only been open a month and I see a lot of potential but they still have a lot to work on. We stayed in room 519 which was spacious, modern and clean but that's where the positives end. The pillows were overstuffed cotton pillows that were very stiff and thick.  Definitely not the soft down pillows I am used to using at most Hyatt Hotels. It was a hot night and the AC didn't work. Regardless of what we set it to the thermostat stayed at 73° though our luggage thermometer measured the room between 82-84° throughout the night. Way too hot for us.
This hotel really needs to work on their communication between their employees. Before my arrival management messaged me to introduce themselves and ask if there was anything they could do for us. I very much appreciated this and let them know that I would be arriving late with my 1 year old and asked if they could set up the playpen/crib for us before our arrival. They assured me that they would do this...they did not.  When we arrived parking was easy in the garage and the man that checked us in was delightful.  We got to the room around 10p and noticed that the crib was not set up and that there was no sheet or extra bedding for it.  We called down to the front desk to ask for an extra sheet so we could set up the crib. About 35m later the sheet arrived - meanwhile we attempted to put the playpen together but one of the arms was stuck and wouldn't lock into place. We asked the young man who brought the sheet if he or someone else could help us set up the crib and he said he was sorry but he doesn't know how. We called back to the front desk to ask for help with the crib and to let them know that the AC wasn't working. They said that they would adjust the thermostat from the front desk.  After 20 minutes or so the room was measuring about 3 degrees warmer so we called again and they offered to send someone up to look at it but nobody came and an hour later we gave up and attempted to just go to sleep in the heat.
We had a corner room (519) facing the busy main street and could hear all the steet noise/loud people outside until around 1am. If you are a light sleeper I would request a room at the back of the hotel.
We had breakfast in the lobby which was great. The two women who ran breakfast were absolutely wonderful. Both were helpful and kind. They had lots of fresh options and everything was kept very clean and organized.
We are Hyatt globalists and requested a late checkout so that my son could nap before we got back on the road. They granted our request for a late check-out but unfortunately they didn't tell housekeeping. A few minutes after my son fell asleep housekeeping knocked loudly and then came into the room waking him up.
I can see how this hotel would be ideal for people visiting the local college and interested in going to the restaurants and bars that are just steps from the hotel door. However, I would not reccomend this hotel to other families or those that may be light sleepers or sensitive to heat.
The staff was very friendly but their lack of communication to each other lead to problems.
I would have given this hotel a 2 star review if not for the wonderful breakfast staff and the front desk person who...
Read moreAfter moving away from Newark in 2000 we were looking forward to staying in this new facility on Main Street. Great location. Great rooms, comfortable beds. ||My main gripe starts with the poster in the elevator with a title including "creatively curated food" for breakfast. And they featured a picture of a bowl of oatmeal with a raspberry on top. Not my idea of creative or curated. More like "we serve the same breakfast as everyone else in our class." For those of you who can remember this hotel line opening, they used to have very creative breakfast sandwiches and eggs, which changed every day. Enter the progression to the typical simple/cheap buffet that other hotels offer. Don't get you hopes up, and prepare to head out for a better meal if you think breakfast should be more than a typical Holiday Inn provides.||The service was very good, but the front desk was understaffed. I wanted my parking ticket validated and waited over 10 minutes as the sole person at the desk was doing a wonderful job servicing someone on the phone. No one else saw this and showed up to assist. This is not the Hyatt experience I'm used to. I consider this a bad reflection on the hotel management.||The bar is very large and very cold. It was in the mid-80's outside, I didn't see the need to drink in a 63 degree(?) room, so I went down the block to Taverna, which is a great find.||I don't think I'll stay here again. The Marriott Courtyard on North Campus is very nice, but you need to walk a good 4 blocks to Main Street. No free breakfast, but there a good spot nearby that is much better then what Hyatt...
Read moreThe newest and best location for a University of Delaware hotel, right in the heart of Main Street and walkable to restaurants, bars, shops, and University buildings. There's a wonderfully well lit parking garage below the hotel that adds to the convenience. The vibe is urban, new and hip. Enjoy a free breakfast and/or cup of âď¸ in the morning, too. The rooms aren't huge but they're perfectly comfortable with a little couch, two spots for suitcases in the two double bed room, and modern bathrooms. The floors only have a little area of carpet by the couch and are mostly what I think was laminated wood which is smart for cleanability. There's a great outdoor area with bar service that was hopping on a Friday night. It's raised from street level, so while you're overlooking Main Street, you're not at sidewalk level. There's a lot of seating, a gas fire pit đĽ and gas heaters. The one downside to our stay was the length of time it took to check in. We waited for 15 minutes while two people worked on one party at a time. It was a busy night but it seemed exceedingly slow đ. Beyond that,...
