A nice throwback to the era when a "5 and 10" store was the department store for small towns. For everyone younger than 50, "5 and 10" was occasionally said as "5 and dime". That's a reference to how item prices in these stores during the early 20th century mostly were 5 or 10 cents each. A 5 and10 survived by stocking what customers needed. This store has what "the neighborhood" wants - basic items, plus the best selection of U of Delaware clothing outside the campus bookstore. "National 5 and 10" has lower prices than the stuff in the bookstore, and the quality is similar.
