Newcastle Motel — Hotel in Newcastle

Although the rating from 2010 was bad we had a family emergency and came in from Colorado. The owner helped us get our reservations and did it 3 times as we had to change due to a hospice situation. They put us in a ground floor room and other relatives as well in 3 other rooms. They have just redone the bathrooms and every room had a microwave and small refrigerator as well as wifi included. Water pressure in the new showers was good but not in the sink, enough to brush your teeth and wash your face. The carpet and walls could use some freshening up but the beds were new and very comfortable. Yes we know 4 star and up hotels and this is not it, but that being said it was quiet and clean. Yes there are people who live there week to week but no one bothered us and made no noise. It was 100 degrees and the air conditioner worked perfectly. For a couple of days stay and the convenience near where we needed to be it was fine and half the price of the fancy hotel by the highway. this is a terrible place. the rates are low but it isn't a safe place to be. there were people loitering on the sidewalk "inspecting" our things as we carried them in. the car parked beside ours was broken into during the night. it seemed that most of the rooms are occupied by people who "live" there and roam from room to room all night smoking and drinking on the sidewalk.||||it was very noisy, the floor was filthy and the internet did not work. By far the WORST room I have ever been in!!! •Bed was dirty! Found hairs in it. •The door wouldn't even shut properly. •Knob lock wouldn't work. •There wasn't a towel at all in the bathroom. •There was a huge chunk of drywall missing under the sink. •Front desk barely speaks English.

I wasn't comfortable in that room just myself and my two young children so I asked for a refund. The lady screamed at me when I told her I wanted to go somewhere that I'd be more comfortable. She refused to give me a refund and her & another guy yelled at me. She wouldn't even let me talk.
