JP’s BBQ — Restaurant in Newcastle

I'm picky about my BBQ and I don't do a lot of reviews...but it just sounded good. We were in town for a baseball tourney.

I saw this little place and hoped they woumd be open on a Saturday. Between games, we came back.

We had almost all the meats on the menu. Pulled pork, chopped brisket and some reheated ribs.

Ribs were tender and tasty. Brisket was tender and well seasoned, and cooked just right. Pulled pork was fantastic, after I mixed in some of their spicy BBQ sauce and put it back on the bread.

Sides were all good. Baked beans were bbq joint typical, not sweet but smokey. The corn with cheese and bacon was really good, fries were cooked just right.

Price wise...as expensive as BBQ has gotten lately, this places prices are outstanding. 10 bucks for a bbq sandwich 2 sides and a can of coke with a cup of ice.

They dont have seating outside to soeak of,, but just south on that road through town is a little Park with park benches in the shade..

Well done, and will be back when we are...

We got a plate with pulled pork and brisket. Side of coleslaw. 2 orders of brisket tots and 2 brisket tacos.

The plate was all wonderful and good portions. The coleslaw was like nothing i had before it tasted very fresh. The two types of bbq sauce were just right, one spicy other more of a sweet tangy.

The brisket tots were amazing for the price both big portions and very good flavor. If you like ranch for sure put it on changes the flavor in a interesting good way. I did not try the tacos myself but my girlfriend seemed very happy to finally eat a good taco. Every where else we had tried so far in the area does not even hold a candle light to their food .

To start drove 45 minutes. There were no baked potatoes, ribs (was told that soon the ribs will be off menu except for fridays). What I had ordered was and i would not recommend any: Brisket, Ok as edible, little on dry side, but nothing special. Green beans were edible but out of can taste just really bland even with the little topping added on. Potato salad was edible, really bland seems prepackaged. Spices corn tasted like out of can and was just swimming in some kind of store bought dressing. Would have given 2 stars but atleast the food was edible so JPs got a 3 star. I wouldn't recommend anything I had. If i am on track about the impression of the food then my opinion would be to...
