So this is a difficult review to write. I have been waiting to hear back from the manager at this motel and it has been almost 2 months so here I am. My fiancé, 3 month old baby and I all needed a break from the house so we rented a condo to stay in here. Upon arriving it was very dated but the location was great and reasonably priced for sure, however when we were going to bed, I laid down on my side of the bed and when I transferred one of the pillows to the front to give me more support I found a FRESH blood stain on it. It was a drop of blood that I nearly put my face on. I don't care how much blood there was, the bottom line is there was BLOOD on my pillow case that did NOT belong to myself or the other 2 people I was with. I took photos and contacted the office via email with a photos immediately (11 pm). There was no response until I called numerous times to speak to someone about it the following day. The young woman who was there was kind but didn't seem to think fresh BLOOD being on the bedding was that much of a problem. The manager has not called me after over 4 times leaving a message for him with employees. Now, I don't want anything from them, sure a comp at the time of some of the 500 plus dollars we spent on 2 nights there would have been nice but at this point just an apology would be nice. We left the second day and decided not to continue our stay due to feeling uneasy about having our daughter there and not knowing how well the place had been cleaned. If you read the reviews of this place the poor reviews are blown off by the management due to " the higher amount of good reviews " I have worked in hospitality and customer service...sometimes the best way to see how a business treats their customers is NOT looking at the good reviews but looking at how they manage (or ignore) the issues and problems that arise for people. I will absolutely not be giving them any more of my money and I am going to tell everyone my experience. Shame because the location is great. Photos below show the fresh blood stain. Health hazard and nothing was done about it other than offer of new...
Read moreWhat I loved: since I had to let go of a beloved place in Lincoln City due to new management I have been searching for an oceanside spot where I can write, hike and watch the King Tides. LCC meets nearly all those needs, combining a very reasonable price for a well-appointed room with everything you could possibly need and more, including, depending on your room location, a simply stunning view.
If you are closest to the ocean, that means a long walk down the wood walkways. If you have a lot of stuff (and I do, including a pair of fifteen lb dumbbells), you need a cart which can be a bit unwieldy but it works. People are quick to offer to help.
You are barely a mile from Yaquina Lighthouse and Agate Beach, access just to the south, provided plenty of dune hiking and walks every night.
Everything works, and you have all the necessary amenities. Newport is full of restaurants and there are plenty of supermarkets nearby for supplies.
You can drive north or south to plenty of entertainment and exploration and lots of coastal hikes.
What I didn't like is what you can't control. If you're on a bottom floor, and I was, for several nights I had people who either stomped or ran over my head which made it nearly impossible to read, work or rest. My sleep hours are very different from most, so when I come back I am going to request the top floor. Management can only do so much. In cases like this all you can do is request a place where you're the top dog, if you will.
The other thing I so appreciated is that LCC is super dog-friendly. I met lots of folks whose puppers were well-mannered and great fun, and when I get my dog it will join me there.
Finally, I appreciated the front office staff and the housekeeping folks were friendly and kind.
In all, it's a well-kept, bright, well-maintained place situated in a lovely spot on the Oregon Coast. Highly...
Read moreMy hubby and I decided to take a quick last-minute kid-free trip to the coast and this place came up on my travel site recommendations list. After looking through a few of the photos we decided it looked decent enough and booked a room for the weekend. We arrived just four hours later in the pouring rain with storm warnings coming over our phones. The lady at the front desk was so warm and welcoming, I was sure that she was going to come around the desk and give me a hug before we left, and I would have let her. The walk to our room wasn't too bad, even in the rain and high winds, and when we opened the door to our room we were very pleasantly surprised. The photos online do not do this place justice! The rooms are actually someones condo they are renting out when they are not there, so these rooms are not cold and calculated like every other hotel room - there is character and warmth, personal touches and thoughtful amenities, full kitchens and beach views from every room. The location is great for being near Newport, Lincoln City and Depot Bay and enjoying everything those places have to offer without having to stay near a noisy highway, or hearing other people around you or whatever have you - it feels like coming home. They even have your own little beach right there in the cove that is convenient and awesome for a quick walk, non-crowded beach space or a quick dip! The prices are VERY reasonable, even on the low side I would say, for what you get at this property! You will not be...
