I have never ever spotted a single agate at Agate Beach. That said, it was a great beach for finding intact sand dollars!

To get to the beach, you have to walk through a ton if loose sand that might make bringing tons of stuff like chairs and coolers pretty rough.

The beach itself is nice and wide, good for dogs.

You can see the Yaquina Head lighthouse easily from the beach.

The parking lot is spacious and it has a restroom. Yes, there is a parking lot. I didn't realize this until my 2nd or 3rd trip and always tried to park in the tiny area on the beach side of the street lol. The lot is on the opposite side of the street and there is a way to get to the beach without crossing the street. Just follow the little footpath behind the restrooms and it will take you...

I've been coming here for over 25 years. Not much has changed in that time. Sand features and driftwood come and go, but things mostly stay the same. Good parking access, adequate restrooms, and near shopping and accommodations.

There are less frequented beaches on the Oregon coast, and prettier beaches. Agate beach is good because it's easy to get to, interesting, and relatively easy to traverse if you have any disabilities. It's a great all around beach.

There are technically leash laws, but most people seem to let their dogs run free and I've never seen it be a problem. There are poop bags available on the beach and in the parking lots. Motor vehicles aren't allowed, so don't bring your dander crawler or ATV here; unless you like disappointment and...

Agate Beach State Park is a place I frequent often. Its a nice spacious area where you can pause for a break in the busy bustle of Newport. There are picnic tables and areas where you can do family activities, nature trails if you enjoy walking, and beach access that's fairly easy to use. There are public restrooms which are well maintained and usually clean. There's a water spigot outside for rinsing the sand off when you come up from the beach. The park is fairly well sized so you can be up close and personal, or fairly private if solace is your desire. It's very comfortable and a good place to enjoy by yourself or with family...
