I really wanted to like this place. The lobby was inviting, it didn't smell like smoke from the casino, ppl were friendly. The front desk clerk seemed to not be having a good day cuz it seemed I was a bother to her. But that didn't bother me! The elevators were turbo fast and announce your floor. Now the room. We were in 370. Waaaay in the back in a hole at the end of the hall. When I booked it, it said pool view. We had a 3 sided concrete wall "patio" with walls at least 10ft tall. But it had 2 hanging fish on the wall. I guess that's close? I mean maybe it's a storm shelter? You could barely tell when it was day or night. The bed was alright. Not as great as best westerns beds but not as bad as motel 6. The ac didn't cool the room at all. Ok so we decided to open the slider to the brick wall and see if we can get some cool night air...great in theory, worked well BUT you have to make a choice between cool air or the loud whistling thru the door. We chose not to hear the ear piercing squeal. The door, the main door to the room had gaps, which is what causes the whistling. The bathroom door didn't close unless you put your whole body weight into it and it slammed so it's not something you want to close in the middle of the night. We chose to eat dinner at the Timbers Cafe. The pizza was good, the sauce was fabulous and from scratch. We were so happy with our dinner that we chose the same place for breakfast. Talk about night and day difference. We ordered right away, no line. Grabbed our fruit cup and sat down at our table and waited for our order. We waited 35 minutes and went up to ask how much longer. She sent the other worker to check who came back and said 30 minutes or so because our order was bumped. So I said cancel it and refund my money. She told the other worker to go cancel it who said it hasn't even been started. Then tried to justify the why of the problem...they only have 1 kitchen for 2 services and the other side takes priority. LIKE WHAAAAT? Absolutely ridiculous. So they refunded us but comped the fruit cup. Gee thanks. Other than that it was ok and I feel I would have had a much better experience in another room but not willing to give it another try...best western has far...
Read moreA great experience in North Bend/Coos Bay. |This hotel is located right off of highway 101 - just a convenient right turn if you are heading north. |It is located right on the water of the bay and this is a working bay with plenty of ship traffic to watch from your room or from the expansive promenade just outside the hotel |Check-in at the modern lobby was quick and cheerful. This was a weekday in off-season, so it wasn’t too busy. The “front desk” here is 5 podiums arranged in echelon as you enter the front lobby. Our desk clerk was very helpful and very efficient.|We had reserved a deluxe Queen-Queen in the tower, and were pleasantly surprised to see that the “partial water view” was enough of a view for us to enjoy, looking at the large ocean-going ship loading wood chips near to the hotel, We were on the 5th floor.|The room was large and had two comfortable queen-size beds. There were some gold-tinged sheers on the windows that you could pull closed for some privacy and still enjoy the view. Then there were blackout curtains for the night.|There is not a coffee maker in the room, but we brought our own Keurig so that was fine with us. There is a refrigerator, however, which allowed us to chill some waters as well. They also provided 2 bottles of water.|The bathroom was large and well-lit and the walk-in shower worked very well and was plenty spacious.|As others have mentioned, the complimentary soap, conditioner, body oil, etc. were available and of good quality.|There was a note in the room that said they would clean the room every day unless your stay was longer than 4 nights, in which case they would clean every 4 days.|We ate in the hotel restaurant for breakfast, which was fine and moderately priced. Good service there too.|In fact, every hotel worker we came into contact with (front desk, gift shop, casino and restaurant) were very pleasant and helpful.|The room and the hotel itself were very clean .|I recommend this hotel...
Read moreThe Casino hotel is wonderful. Very comfortable and quiet. Registration is seamless. My last visit, I arrived early (2 p.m.) and they were able to get me into a room early ( before 4). That's remarkable. As far as the gambling, I've had more good luck than bad. Food service on the other hand needs improvement. The bar service tends to be slow ( lot's of talking going on back there). I had dinner in the Warehouse this last time and I had very poor service :( . I sat myself, as everyone did. I sat until a waitress brought me water and a menu. I picked my meal in less than 5 minutes and waited (it looked like 2 servers and it was around 5:30 p.m.). A couple arrived about 7-10 minutes after I sat down and I watched the waitress bring this couples drinks then took their order. Bummer. Waitress then came and took my order. Brought my beer. I then waited and waited. I watched food delivered to this couple and 2 other tables who arrived after me. When the waitress walked back, I spoke out and said those people had seated after me. She didnt initially say anything but did some hurrying. She came back and told me she gave my meal to someone else, who had touched it before he realized it was not his meal, so my meal ( BLT) had to be re made. I waited another 15 minutes ( for a total of almost an hour) for that BLT. All those people who sat after me were getting up and paying their bills. In all honesty... the BLT was great as was the fries. I believe if food servers want that crazy tip that they're getting anymore, they need to work for it. Single people are not less than a couple. If you make a mistake, less the patron know ASAP. Also, comp a beer of cut the meal price in half. DO SOMETHING to acknowledge that the patron did not get what they paid for. I would've given this hotel/casino a 5 star but food and bar service needs some...
