I don't typically leave reviews for RV parks but this one is worth writing. We traveled from Eastern Montana to Coos Bay specifically to stay at The Mill RV park. We have been here for almost a week and we have enjoyed some time in the casino, ordered plenty of food and drinks from the Timbers Cafe, and we enjoyed every moment of it. But this morning we came into the RV club house to purchase another night to stay at the park. We were informed that our motorhome "doesn't match their NEW guidelines." We were told that, "the park is looking for "newer" types of motorhomes and not any older ones." We have a fully restored 1978 Winnebago, a small 20 ft. rig. When I asked the clubhouse what the age cut off was, she said "well I don't think it's age, but we don't want any campers here with rust." I then responded that the motorhome is fully rebuilt with new parts and there is no rust on the motorhome, escept for a little bit on the rims of the wheels, and the back bumper, which is new due to the salt placed on Montana roads in the winter, rust that will be cleared from the motorhome when its not a rainy season. She proceeded to tell me that it was age, so I asked when the age cut off was and she referred back to the rust. Also not telling us what year was the cutoff for their park. The Mill Resort & RV Park then asked us to leave, informing us we are not able to stay for another night due to "age and rust", and said that "the manager in the back is working on the new policy and cannot speak to us". So this is a brand new policy as of last night. We were never informed of this on any of the previous night we stayed here and there are no guidelines anywhere on their website or any pamphlet of this RV park and resort that mention rust or age on campers. Mind you, our motorhome has been fully rebuilt in the last couple of years.
If you have any campers that aren't brand new and straight off a lot, I wouldn't stay here. The RV park aparentally can make up brand new policies and then tell you to leave whenever they like if your camper doesn't look the way they want it to. We will never be staying at this RV park, eating at any restaurant here, nor will we ever spend money in this casino again. I would be careful if you stay here, they might make up new policies and kick you out whenever they feel like it.
Update We spoke to management and they were told that aparentally it was a piece of tape on a broken door (which was there because it broke at this specific rv park), and due to paint chips, which aren't a thing. So which is it? Rust, paint chips, tape, or motorhome age? Also, the establishment did nothing to make it right, told us that we can file a complaint and they would call us later with more information once they "learned more about the new policy.""
‼️‼️ Also, if you are disabled or ADA, this park is NOT for you. My mother is disabled, and due to the lack of due process, it feels this is discrimination towards disabled people. Also, the management refused to speak to us at the RV park and the hotel, and they only let us speak to security, not anyone in truly charge ‼️‼️ The management and security also mentioned they have never heard of this new policy before.
I added photos of our camper below...
Read moreSecurity Guard came out and talked down to me, about my intentions for parking where he said I couldn't, and this was long after dark, where I told him I had been driving from Seaside down I-5, to my Son's in Eagle Point, then came to the coast, hearing the fires were all under control yet experienced heavy smoke coming into my SUV, burning my eyes worse for too long, and could not stay at my usual favorite Point of View, due to age and health condition, I was on 199, to North Bank Road, and planned to sleep but couldn't breath. I came north, until I felt I could breathe, so with eyes dry and burned I could barely see, and was heavily affected by oncoming lights considering I was awake since 3am to get to Medford area for Son, then doing Reviews and going back slowly....reporting on The Fires first hand, due to fake news that caused concern regarding family and friends in Jackson/Josephine Counties. Being treated with So Little Regard by The Casino, I planned on Reviewing, in the morning. I had a bad taste in my mouth, due to being treated unworthy of a break, or better referral other than Wal-Mart. I had already been to Wal-Mart. I'm not a homeless, careless, mean, noisey, disrespectful person, I am a US Citizen with great credit and think I deserve to be treated better. Handicapped plaque, State and Federal Parks Passes, clean driving and no drug history, not even prescriptions. I deserve better. Will not be able to do a positive review, ever. All I could see in the dark on their gate sign, was "All Campers and Semi's" In which, I considered myself, to be a happier camper up till that point. All I needed was sleep and air with much less smoke. I'd had enough trauma, seeing both sides of the road burned and still smoking, 199 Gasquet/Selma areas, The Border Inspection Station had trees behind it that were burned. So the air so thick you couldn't clearly make out anything visually in the distance clearly and my eyes were burning and weeping. Yet this poor gal said it was many times worse before during the prior hours. I went back to see what the sign said. Attached a photo. That smaller print was total invisible to me at that point. Either I get sleep or risk getting in, or causing a wreck. With my placard, I could park in the handicapped by the Casino, then got coffee when I had sleep. Security Officer: Offering me coffee was not going to work, when I needed...
Read moreThere are two places to park your RV at The Mill Casino. One RV park is your standard RV park with full hookups. Very clean. Asphalt paved pads and some with waterfront views. Propane refill available. Rate for this area is approximately $60 a night.
We stayed in the other area where it's dry camping in a large open parking lot. It's basically a 'park wherever you like' situation. So, the campers are kinda all over the place which certainly has its advantages, but disadvantages as well. In my case we came back one evening to our 5th wheel rig to find someone had pulled in directly in front of our camper. Had we needed to pull out we would have had to ask him to move. Tractor trailers are allowed in here. There were several parked here when we arrived. The second night an 18 wheeler pulled in around 8:00 P.M. with this massive piece of road construction equipment. Not something you would normally expect to experience. None of this bothered me. I'm pointing this out because you need to be aware that this is not a normal campground.
A dumpster is available in the parking lot. The dry campers are entitled to use the laundry room and the dump station and water fill at no additional charge. All of the National Forest, County, State and commercial campgrounds are full on the weekends this summer, so the Mill Casino RV park was a good fallback for us. The rate when we were here was $25 a night. This is a fair price. You get what you pay for.
This is a good place to use as home base to venture out from. Coos Bay and Bandon are close by. Checkout is 8:00 P.M. which gives you plenty of time to venture out on the day that you are departing.
The campground rules are fair, but rather interesting in that they vary a bit from the standard rules that you normally find. I've posted a copy here for your review.
The negatives: A bit of highway noise from U.S. Hwy 101, but not bad. An usual number of campers come in after hours, more than you would experience in most campgrounds.
Security is tight. They make frequent rounds through here. I felt very safe seeing them coming through at least once an hour, sometimes more often. If a camper tries to sneak in here for the night I can assure you security will catch them. We saw this happen a couple of times.
Would I come back? You bet. It's...
