A friend cautioned us to go to a different restaurant, but I've been vacationing in this area a long time, and wanted to try it.
We were greeted with a musky odor, after opening the front door that had filthy wooden handles. We went at 8pm on a Saturday night. It wasn't busy, and we were seated before we had the opportunity to turn and leave. We noticed there was NOBODY in the bar area, and only 3 tables had customers. That should have been a warning, especially the radio playing a radio station in the backroom that didn't add to the whole dining experience.
Walking to our table, we were appalled by the dirty carpet. The traffic stains were quite obvious, since the pattern was barely visible through the soiling from use. I don't know if they do not clean their carpet, our just spill a lot of food on it? 🤷
Our waitress was friendly, and offered recommendations. She helped us make an informed decision on what we ordered. She brought us our water, and hot tea. The tea leaves I believe are good, however the water supply must be pumped from a swimming pool? The extra chlorine ruined the tea, drinking water, and our soup. They really need a filter to get rid of the chlorine taste.
I ordered Hot & Sour soup, and my date ordered the Egg Flower soup. Both of our soups were cold on top, and needed stirring to blend the heat. We're guessing the soup sat out too long before serving?
My soup should have been called "Sweet & Sour". It had a slight red tinge to it, and was SWEET! I tried adding soy sauce, but it didn't help. After 3 spoonfuls, I quit eating it.
Both of us ordered the sweet & sour chicken, pork fried rice, and pork chow mein dinners. We also ordered a side of General Tso's chicken.
ALL of our food was SWEET!
The sweet & sour chicken was good, but it's simply an orange sauce, with no vegetables or pineapple in it.
The pork fried rice didn't get fried much, if any. It was closer to white rice than fried. It appears they finely mince the sliced BBQ pork pieces, because that usually has a sweet coating, and this rice was very sweet!
The chow mein had a good flavor once soy sauce was added, but the tiny bits of pork pieces looked very similar to rock salt, and was a very odd texture in our mouths.
The General Tso's was very sweet as well. We both only ate a couple of pieces, because it wasn't very good.
I told the waitress about our displeasure, and she recommended a couple of different items to order next time. She didn't understand there won't be a "next time", based on a "this time"...
We did get two to-go containers for our dog. Tomorrow we'll see how he likes his $48 dog food.
I doubt we'll return here, and wish I listened to our...
Read moreAs always the food was delicious the bartending however was a bit on the green side so to speak but I ordered Double absolute n e a t the bartender was fresh enough that she was forced to consult her manual of cocktails. her drink book as it were the lady was very nice and her service was adequate but obviously had been placed in the wrong position I would say management would be responsible for this but it was slow enough that this was actually kind of amusing for every one but the poor bartender who seemed on the verge of tears for most of the evening that we were there we were able to enjoy some Oregon Lottery gambling and didn't quite Break Even but it was entertaining all the same. We arrived at approximately 8 and because they're closing time what is 9 p.m. they made sure that we had our ticket and to-go boxes at our table without us even asking for it promptly at 8:45 p.m.. although we were not able to enjoy a leisurely meal it was a good meal all the same hard to mess up an absolute double so the drinks were good also my date had a glass of wine and in the end hour ticket price was just under $45 which is reasonable. So next time you looking for an evening out on the town and a little show to boot try out the Lucky Star Chinese Restaurant and you might show up on a night when they're training someone else wahoo!! It...
Read moreI've come back to edit my review. While we have never had stellar service here, the food has made up for it. Tonight, that changed. We stopped by to pick up take out. A woman brought out a bag, citing the two entrees we ordered. The bag was stapled shut, so we assumed it was complete. We drove home (talking all the while about how hungry we were). I unpacked the bag, finding my husband's sweet & sour chicken, and two more containers- one larger, one smaller. I started to complain about how they cheated us on the fried rice. He opened the containers to reveal that the larger was fried rice and the smaller was sweet & sour sauce. My entree is nowhere to be seen. I call to explain what happened, and the waitress interrupts me, "Oh yeah, you forgot your food". Uh, no. YOU forgot our food. "Well, do you want to come pick it up?" Yes, we actually DO want the food that we paid for. There was no offer at all to make things right. They could have given us a credit, or even delivered it to us. My husband spent an additional 30 minutes driving back to get the food. Honestly, next time we will be trying another restaurant. We have to feel like our patronage is...
