This hotel started out ok ALTHOUGH the rooms were outdated we had to buy our own light bulbs and definitely air freshener because of the smell of mold in the air but the price was right for what it was. But after we were there for about 2 weeks and the manager had been hounded us for reviews knowing that him and his staff had been on their best behavior me and my wife did as he begged us to do. And that was give a good review things started to change. First was that we were paying astronomical prices yet we couldn't have ANY company visit us at all the hotel. It wasn't like we stayed a night or 2 then left and came back no, we were permanent residents. Paid faithfully daily. Absolutely no guest not even other paying guests of the hotel. Silly but something that was trivial in the grand scheme of things. Then came the price fluxuation during the week it would be between 75 and 90 a night on the weekend it could get over 200. The manager finally came to us and said that if the price went over 120 on any given night then that's what we would pay. We wouldn't have to pay over 120 as long as we had cash and didn't make a reservation through a 3rd party app. Great news for us.... Or so we thought. The weekend of the bridge run, flower town festival, and I do believe the Cajun festival rolled around and on Friday morning we went down to pay the 120. We honestly didn't realize what was going on in the area (mind you we weren't supposed to make a reservation) so when we went down on Friday morning to pay the managers girlfriend (very rude and not at all friendly not that day or any day for that matter) was working the desk and she was extremely rude and says 120!? Are y'all crazy!!? Have you seen what the rooms are going for online!? I was taken aback just for the sheer audacity of how this lady handled to whole situation. So needless to say we ended up paying 170 that day and when we went to pay on Saturday they wanted 170 for that day as well. But we were 30 dollars short and honestly through out the day somehow we had forgotten about the money and at 10 pm he came banging on our door threatening to kick us out if we didn't pay it. When the 3rd shift lady came on she sent word through another guest that he was going to put us out if we didn't pay the money so a friend of ours paid it for us on her debit card. The next night which would have been a Sunday we were given a receipt showing a week of room payments and lo and behold on the days we paid 170 our receipt reflected that we had paid 120 AND that the $30 payment our friend had paid was refunded back to her card needless to say it wasn't ever refunded to her card. The next few days were pretty rough the manager was threatening to fire the employee that had given us the receipt which is an elderly woman that has worked at the hotel for over 11 years and was only doing right by the customer (never once explaining to us why our receipt reflected something different than what we actually paid) after my wife wrote a review explaining the situation he kicked us out in the middle of the night with no money and no where to go( were 2 females ) he had not a care in the world aside from the fact that he could get in trouble for the review she had written. So please take heed and keep your receipts and don't trust them their low life scoundrels that are worried about stealing money from the out of town owners and the minute you pose a threat to their money making scheme you'll be out with no...
Read moreDISGUSTING! UNACCEPTABLE ROOM CONDITIONS! This hotel is horrible it was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Once we pulled up we could tell the hotel was nothing as advertised. We were charged before we checked in and the staff (Katrina) refused to give our money back. At this point we decided to check in and not waste our money. We entered the room and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. There was dust and grime all over the walls. Kitchen cabinets were covered in what looked like chocolate splatters. The television remote was sticky and didn't work. The shower curtain was covered in blue stains and th "clean" towels had long black hairs on them. There was layers of dust on the walls on the lamp shades and on the hair a dryer. It looks like someone came in the room changed the bed and didn't clean anything else. At this point( 10pm) I was given the option to leave and get my money back but I already had 2 sleeping babies(9 months and 2) in the room. They didn't offer to change rooms at any point until midnight that night once I found gum under the edge of the nightstand when I went to pull it out to charge my cell phone. The thought of moving my 4 children who are all under 5 years old once they were alredy asleep was just not an option. The woman working that night told me the front desk manager on the next shift would be able to give me a refund in the morning. Once the morning came and I spoke with the so called front desk manager Katrina she told me she could only give me half a refund she did not have authorisation for anything else. She then stated the general manager Paul would be in tomorrow and he would give me a full refund. Katrina told me I should expect a phone call from Paul the next morning. After not getting a phone call I went back to the hotel I went out of my way to get there just to be told I would not get a refund. Paul told me he would give me 20% until I told him Katrina had alredy offered me 50% off the room. I explained that Katrina the front desk manager that I had spoken to told me he would give me the full refund. Paul then continued to tell me that because I stayed in the room longer than 4 hours he would not give me my money back. PAUL then told me to keep my voice down he was extremely DISRESPECTFUL UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE. He explains that he would have given me my money back when I called and said I didn't want to stay at the hotel before check in. His employee Katrina however would not give me my money back. As you can understand this is very unprofessional for one employee to handle a situation the opposite way a different employee would handle the situation. I was forced to stay at this hotel when they didn't give me my money back before check in. This is unacceptable the hotel ruined my Mother's Day weekend not only for me but but for my children and husband as well. I spent 3 days arguing with 3 different people at this hotel all which gave me different stories different outcomes and finally the manager who was so disrespectful it's unforgivable. On behalf of my entire family I want to say this hotel...
Read moreI don't know exactly where to begin on this review. We originally was trying to book at Best Western on savannah hwy where my mom use to work . We have stayed there several times and it was amazing. My husband and I had to come to Charleston to my uncle's funeral. We tried booking at other hotels in the area but some kind of event was going on and all of the excellent hotels of course was booked. We ended up coming here. We came to the lobby and the we asked the lady if they took any discounts and the owner rudely yell NOOOO, do we want a room or not . I was shocked. I said we do , we are tired from traveling from Florida and my uncles funeral is tomorrow. He yelled only 1 room left. It was getting late so we had to take it. We walked in the room and I swear it looked like it was from the 1970's. They had thick dirty carpet on the floor. And it smelled so bad. We had our dogs with us as well. They didn't even want to walk on the nasty carpet. They had red stain on the wall. And the bathroom was disgusting. Our toilet did not work and I had to call the owner to look at it. When he came he saw me cleaning the bathroom counter and all. Thank God I had some cleaning things and lysol . The owner seemed to had gotten offended when he walked in and saw me cleaning. He said oh your cleaning ? I said YES, do you see all the dirt? So he noticed the toilet did not flush. He fixed it. Roaches were everywhere. We did not unpack our bags. We actually just took what we needed out and left our bags in the car. TV in the front area did not work. The furniture looked like it came from a yard sale. And OMG. THE bed had blood stains. We had to take the comforter off the bed. It was horrible. Our two dogs didn't even want to walk on the carpet . They slept in the bed with us the whole night. I was woken up by a large cock roach crawling from under my pillow the next morning. We were done!! We got dressed for the funeral early just to get out of that nightmare hotel. Never ever ever we will come back here. We would sleep in our car before we come back to this place. If anyone is giving this place a 5 stars ..they must be homeless or nuts. Because this definitely is not even a 1 star hotel. Oh the lighting in the rooms are AWFUL. They have cheap thrift store lamps . No large lighting I guess so you can't see all the dirt and nastiness in the rooms . So the roaches can stay dormant as well. Never will...
