Absolutely disgusting, stay away.
This was hands down the most disgusting hotel room I have ever stayed in. From the moment we walked in, the room reeked of mold, mothballs and weed. While I understand you can’t stop people from being disrespectful and smoking on what is suppose to be “non-smoking” floor, you could at the very least move someone with small children when their neighbors are smoking weed next door. The smell alone should have been a warning, but it unfortunately only got worse.
Our bathroom floor had toilet paper all over it, the corners had so much dirt built up in them, and to top things off there was fecal matter on the back of our toilet. Nobody ever came to clean the toilet, so my husband had to do it so that my small children could use it. There were bugs crawling all over the bathroom floor, and when I went to wash my hands a roach crawled out from behind the knob to the sink.
There were literal cobwebs in every corner of the room (pictures provided) and the floor was so black that my daughter spilled her water on the floor and my husband used our only towel to clean it up because there was nothing else to clean it up with, and the towel came up BLACK like the STREET. How are you not cleaning the floors between each guest? I wouldn’t even take my shoes off, I literally slept on top of the covers with my shoes on and I don’t care who thinks I’m wrong for it I couldn’t bare to put my feet on the ground. The entire 3 day stay my children had to stand in their shoes to shower because the “white” tubs are black as well, so I had to use the shower head and make them stand in their shoes. Neither my husband or I showered the entire 3 days. At one point my mom, who was staying in another room experiencing the same horrors, asked the front desk staff if she could have another towel because there were 3 people in her room and she was told that it was going to be an additional fee to get extra towels….THEY ONLY GAVE US 1 TOWEL PER ROOM WITH 3-4 GUESTS PER ROOM! Were we meant to share the towel? The front desk staff didn’t even care when we told them the state of our room, they asked if we wanted a credit for one night…..uh no, I want my entire refund so I can go somewhere else. Thank god I am out of there now. Not to mention, they advertise “fully equipped” kitchens which evidently to them means they offer a microwave and apartment size refrigerator, and does NOT include any form of “kitchen ware” not a single pot, pan, spoon, fork, or anything was provided. I understand you pay for what you get….but you could’ve at least offered a damn coffee pot or something. You can rent a fork for $39.99 though! Not to mention the fake eyelash that some dirty person decided to stick to the night stand between the beds, the blinds that were hanging on by a thread, and the dresser in the room? Don’t even think you’re using that disgusting thing if you stay there for a week or longer because it looked like it had boogers inside of it. Thankfully we didn’t need to put our stuff in those drawers because I probably would’ve burned my clothing after it went in there.
The topping on the cake for me was when I was sitting on my bed, talking to my mom about going to another hotel and a roach crawled across my pillow. I literally didn’t lay back down last night because of it, so you can probably understand how aggravated I am for the amount of money we put out to stay at the roach motel!
I will now be taking all of my belongings and putting them directly into a washing machine so that I don’t bring any roaches into my house, because this hotel is infested with them. This hotel should be ashamed of themselves. Honestly, your best bet is to just knock the building down at this point and then never own a hotel again since you don’t know how to properly treat...
Read moreThe room was very bare compared to other extended stay america hotels. The bedding was just a cover encased over the mattress with a no sheet over it other than the regular sheet and a very thin blanket if that's really what you want to call it. The toilet was clogged prior to me entering the room. I was originally set to stay longer than a month but found an apartment 2 days after checking in. I stayed there Sunday and Monday night and then told the guy Tuesday evening when I got the last couple things from the room that I was checking out Wednesday morning he said there wasn't anything he could do to check me out tuesday evening because he didn't have the authorizations to do so so all he did was write it down in the log for the manager in the morning to check me out so I doubt I was even checked out in the system because I havny gotten a refund for the nights not stayed and on top of that there was another pending $14 and some change charge pending and when I spoke to the lady at the front desk about it she couldn't see what the charge was even for. For what the price it cost to stay there for an entire month I was able to find an apartment that was much bigger and much nicer than that property was and its like $700 cheaper than the extended stay america property. I have stayed at several ESA properties accross the country and this one was bay far worst one I'd ever stayed at. I challenge the CEO and whoever else is in charge of setting the prices for these properties to go to each one and stay a couple nights in each one and then sit down and look at the price per month to stay there and then decide if it would be worth staying there. I'm about 99% certain that if they stayed at this location and was having to pay $2300-2400 a month to stay there then there no way they would even stay there. I will say I did have a pet with me but the pet fee was an extra $400 for the month but that's still atleast $2000 a month for a dirty dingy very bare room. I would love to speak to the CEO of ESA and discuss my experience with this location and other locations I've stayed at but I doubt that would ever happen. I would like to think ESA has some really nice locations across the country but from my experience I really doubt it. I've seen the pictures in the ads for the company and their properties but I don't think those are real or if they are then they are rooms aren't allowed to be booked in order to keep then looking nice for pictures when they need to update their websites and ads. On the reimbursement topic I have tried calling the general manager a couple times this week when I've had a free chance during work but nobody would answer the phone and there was no voicemail to leave a message. I'm going to give it a another week so for the reimbursement to come through and I'm going to try calling again next week when I can get a free chance because I can't just go to the property to speak with the general manager in person about the matter because I go to work before the GM starts and you the time I get off work I can't get to the property in time to speak with the general manager. If I don't hear back from the GM in the next week or if I'm not able get ahold of the GM then I will be contacting the corporate...
Read moreWe were visiting from out of state on vacation. I don't know why it's so difficult to find a decent hotel to stay in around Charleston SC for a fair price these days....This was one of the "cheaper" price tag hotels we could find in the Charleston area around the time (March 2023), and the price to stay for 1 night was like $125. In my past, I've stayed in much nicer hotels for $70-$90 per night so it was quite frustrating trying to find something better with decent reviews. All the super cheaper hotels had 2 star average reviews, etc.
So honestly for the $125ish price tag, it was an extremely low quality room and hotel.
The staff we checked in with was really nice and helpful, however I had low expectations after reading some of the reviews before booking (especially the ones about cockroaches).
The hotel smelled pretty bad in the hallways and the sheets in the room smelled too which made it difficult to sleep (among the other things).
Everything in the room made a lot of noise. The bathroom (drips?? Or something....coming from the bathroom air vent), the window AC unit coming on and off every 10 mins to cool down the room, the walls are paper thin and the floors are HARDWOOD so you can hear everything and everyone inside the hotel). The place gave us the heebie-jeebies and it was hard to sleep thinking there were potential cockroaches, but I didn't see any all night so I thought we were okay until..... I spotted 1 tiny cockroach in the morning on the floor and killed it.
We couldn't wait to leave this hotel as soon as we arrived. Unfortunately it's just super poor quality and not nearly worth anything over $50 per night, and I regret spending the amount of money that I did.
The bad reviews are accurate. Listen to us, don't stay here unless you really have no other choice and the cost is...
