This location was great for being closer to the valley without being in the valley! It was only a 20 minute drive to the valley and you don't have to wait in line at the entrances line you would have to if you stayed outside of the park. It's about 1 hour and 20 minutes or so to the northern part of the park. I HIGHLY recommend you go to the northern area of the park for cooler temperatures, great views and fantastic hiking near lakes and streams.
The temperatures in the valley were 100 degrees + during the day but only in the 90s at Yosemite West. Lol. There isn't any air conditioning here to it was still pretty miserable but better. The ice machine in the hallway was a great help though! If you are sensitive to heat and it's going to be hot, don't stay here. Period. I like to think that I'm pretty good with higher temperatures and I still didn't sleep well. A tip is to close up the sliding door and windows and pull the shades when you leave in the morning to keep the heat out a bit. I would recommend bringing a fan to supplement the one in the rental or even a portable air conditioner if you can swing it! Lol
We rented a studio condo with a small kitchenette, full bathroom, moderately sized refrigerator, microwave and queen sized bed. There was a sofa bed (VERY uncomfortable) and a love seat. We brought twin inflatable mattresses for the 2 kids. It was a tight squeeze...
Read moreUnfortunately used Scenic Wonders. Please don't stay there, with ANY of the property managers. They remove the bad reviews so new searchers cant see them. The two buildings have no a/c and they have no intention of offering a/c even during the hottest months of the summer - this makes me wonder if the winter accomodations work either. The condos themselves are not maintained (we had to have an major GFI replaced and their idea of fixing a bad faucet was to turn the pressure up higher - making it useless). The electric grills are on a timer system that doesn't work properly. We ended up pan frying expensive food that should have been grilled - not happy.|They misrepresented distances to all the valley and we spent more time driving than we expected to. the laundry facilities are a joke, you share them with the housekeeping staff and they are rarely available and they charge $5 a wash. ||We left a night early because a new heat wave hit our last day and we didn't want to wake tired from heat exhaustion just for sleeping. These condos are deplorable. Wish we had never stayed, CAMPING would have been more...
Read moreThis place is dope. Super convenient place to stay while visiting Yosemite. Only 20 - 30 mins south of Yosemite Valley. Decently easy to find as long as the snow is under 4ft high, after that it can be tricky. The condo was very nice. 1 queen bed plus a pull out sofa bed. Everything you need but the food to cook a meal and an electric grill on the patio. The view out the window was unobstructed nature which is nice because I didn't go there to stare at a parking lot. During my stay there was some power issues and the propane for the heater went out my last night but they were extremely efficient in getting electricity back and the condo already had a electric space heater just in case.
The only real complaint is that when I arrived the parking was a nightmare. Everyone just parked anywhere they could and were stuck until about 7am if in one of the bad spots, but the problem was created by the snow not the management so I'm not knocking them a star. A person on site to help around check in time would have been...
