We been to this location since 2014 off & on throughout the years. We were just there in mid June 2022. Front desk always seems so nice and helpful. This is a GOOD mid range hotel because there is somethings I wish they would improve. The super hard mattress was a painful nightmare. (I've camped on softer ground in a tent.) The chair was worn out in our room. (It happens). The tub & shower was just horrible for me. I am 5'4" the shower head was still too high for me to change the settings on even standing on the side of the tub. Why do they still have tubs in hotels? To make matters worse for me, the tub had no safety hand rails AND the tub popped & moved under your weight. Which kept making me dizzy. The room (second floor), otherwise was nice. The decor had been updated since 2014 - Loved their artwork! The other issue I had with this visit was, the breakfast. We checked in on a Thursday afternoon, so Friday they were out of hot foods (only thing was eggs). The fruit & orange juice were out also. I was a little taken back by their lack of options. Otherwise you could eat a nasty microwave breakfast sandwich they offered. (I fully understand times are harder these days, for everyone, but If I wanted a nasty microwave breakfast I would have brought it.) On Saturday & Sunday they added bacon, orange juice, and fruit to the breakfast. Well that was better, BUT what happened to the biscuits & gravy??? Plus, why do weekday visitors get less options? That truly disappointed me! The pool was okay but the trash people would pull out of it & place it on the side, sat there until we left Sunday afternoon, so are they really checking it all the way around the pool. Anytime someone had asked them for any towels or when the hot tub timer stopped working they fixed it super fast. The grout around the pool area need to be repaired soon because there are gaps developing that could become dangerous. I do love this place. The workers seem so nice. I want to give them 5 stars, but I have to be honest. It is hard when key areas need improvement. Believe me if I go back & things are better, I will change my score. As of right now, this is a solid 4 star hotel. Please don't pass them up without giving them a chance! This is my go-to hotel when I am visiting out there. Which I love, and will be back again. The pandemic & our government truly messed things up for many hard working people. My little growl shouldn't stop you from choosing here. My issues with the bathroom had no effect on my family, it was my issue alone. Maybe I just need to request the handicap room for now on since I have my own problems, to begin with & thr movement of the tub...
Read moreIt should be possible to give zero stars. We checked into two rooms for one night on 8/15 on our way to Cincinnati. One of them smelled like pee and within 5 minutes of sitting on a bed, 4 ants crawled on me. I found different rooms an hour down the road in Bloomington at the Doubletree (STAY THERE!!). Spoke with the manager, who resisted letting us check out, but he eventually agreed to let us go without billing for the rooms.
He claims that the room smelled okay (cuz he likes the smell of pee) and that he didn't see any ants. Apparently life is supposed to be like a Tom & Jerry episode and I should be able to cue a line of watermelon-carrying ants to walk across the bed on cue.
Returned home after our two week vacation on 8/27 to discover that he did, in fact, charge us. He won't return a phone call, lies to corporate customer service and refuses to reimburse us for the two rooms.
I called again today (9/14) and finally spoke with the manager, who (after putting me on hold for 25 minutes while he reviewed his notes of lies) has decided to have selective memory and can't seem to remember me telling him that we were checking out of his Germ Chateau, or 3/4ths of the conversation that led up to our agreeing that "he wouldn't charge us if we would leave in the next 10 minutes."
Then he hung up on me, because that's the super professional thing to do when you know you're wrong and you're screwing someone over.
Conveniently, the front desk staff person that checked us in and then waved goodbye as we left WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF ME TELLING MANAGER MAN THAT WE WERE CHECKING OUT, doesn't remember seeing us leave.
Worst management EVER and I'm sure if we had stayed there and eaten breakfast, we would've been covered with ant bites and probably got food poisoning.
Gross. Horrible experience. Best Western should close this place down. Don't stay here under any circumstances. If you sleep in your car with the windows open, parked in the middle of a mosquito infested field, surrounded by mooing cows and manure, you'd have a better experience than staying in this place. Bonus: you won't have to deal with this manager who, as one of his desk employees said, "doesn't have a set schedule. He just kind of pops...
Read moreLet me first start off that I am a very active Google review participant. I reside in southern Illinois and am currently in Oglesby for an event with my children. Prior to leaving for the 3 and a half hour drive I Googled and Googled hotels. I am very pleased to have gone with Best Western!
Let me start off first by saying Nick was great! He greeted myself and my family with courtesy and a smile. He is very knowledgeable about Best Western and his customer service is on point! While he was running the front desk he also helped other hotel tenants the best he could single handedly as he was the only one on duty! Not once did you see him let even the slightest of frustrations! Especially given that it's a weekend and there were numerous people occupying many rooms!
Amanda, she is very hospitable, kind and caring. She made sure that she held it down during the evening and early morning hours. There were rude and intoxicated people (from a wedding party) and she was able to diffuse the situation without commotion! Not to mention that she offered to call my room when my laundry was done washing and then when it was done drying! That was really sweet of Amanda!
Billie! A breath of fresh air in the dining area! Such ray of sunlight! She is so kind and sweet! And let me be the first to tell you that there were patrons that just wanted the world for breakfast and complained like little children that didn't get their choice of candy! Really?! The Best Western isn't a 5star technically...but it IS a 5star where a experience is concerned, a weekend getaway at such a great price and breakfast is fresh, of great quality and rotated properly as well! It is well kept and Billie does her best to meet the expectations of patrons and their families! She is a one woman army to feed atleast 30 of us (based off of this morning) I give her kudos for staying calm, cool and collected!
Superior team work, hospitality, respect and service is what I received from the 3 employees during my stay!
Thank you Best Western for such a welcoming and awesome experience during my stay!
I highly recommend...
