Stayed a week during Christmas to see family in town. Very new hotel with mixed emotions from the locals due to its location BUT have no fear, it's a great hotel and the staff are amazing!
All the staff, whether working early mornings, mid day or at 2am we're always pleasant and very friendly. They treat you like a friend or family and could not have been nicer.
The room was extremely large....one of the largest I've stayed in for an average hotel stay. We stayed in a room facing Lake Huron which is the only way to go if you stay here. Even during the winter with it having snowed, the view was great every morning.
Internet was fast. I think each room has its own router. We had a large desk with lamp, couch, coffee table, sitting chair and plenty of room for clothes. Plenty of outlets and USB plugs. Larger size mini frig, microwave and coffee maker. The entry to the room was large and tiled for your wet shoes or sandy things from the beach.
The pool was very nice and clean but smaller than you might be used to however, still a pool. Workout facility was fairly large with amenities. A small business area was close to the front desk with 2 computers and a large conference room. Plenty of seating in the main public areas with tables that had outlets and plugs in the center. Very well thought out!
Breakfast had the typical things but the service was exceptional. They never let any food items run out making you wish you had got up earlier. Eggs, potatoes, sausage, breads, cereal, fruit, yogurt, pancakes, etc. The best breakfast views of the beach and lake if you get a seat by the windows.
Several other local families were staying there, which was nice to see, as well as people from across the US where we came in from. Nice to see this hotel bringing in jobs for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHotel is nice. Beautiful views! Within in walking distance of the beach and downtown shopping. I am rating it so low based on a couple factors. Went the their website to book and was unknowingly redirected to Expedia. Which cost me club points and benefits. I was unable to change the reservation or add any days. Which was also a mistake in booking as I thought we had reserved 1 day more than we actually got. My mistake. The pool was disgusting. It was way way too hot in the room. They had doors propped open to release the heat and humidity. But the pool it self smelled like mildew and was green. When I asked the desk attendant about the pool she stated crews had been sent to fix it but had āJust partied and left without fixing itā š³ On the final day/night of our stay I stopped at the front desk to ask for a roll of toilet paper. I had told the housekeeper earlier that we only needed towels forgetting that the toilet paper was uncomfortably low in our room. I forgot to ask until we returned from our outing for the day and it was late evening. I was asked if I could wait till morning as they were completely out of TP for the entire hotel. šµ I paid $690 for 48 hours at a beach front hotel where the weather went suddenly terrible (upon arrival) the pool was unusable and they ran out of TP. They did give me a half used box of tissue to hopefully tide me over till check out the next morning! My little girl was deeply disappointed about not being able to swim on her vacation. I had specifically rented a room here because you never know with up north weather if you can swim at the beach but with and indoor pool we should have been able to swim. It was exceptionally...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWish I could give more than a 5 star review! From the day we checked in to the day we checked out I canāt say enough positive things about the staff at this hotel. Being a hockey family with 2 kids that play hockey weāve traveled to many hotels, most seem annoyed when hockey families stay at their hotels but not this one! Barbara, who put on breakfast both days we were there went above and beyond! Breakfast was supposed to close at 10 however, when she saw another hockey team coming in at 9:50 after their first game she quickly went back to get more food cooked for their kids and families. She also kept the area cleaned, interacted with us and our kids and insisted on cleaning yo any messes our kids accidentally made. My son is still walking around with the stickers she gave him today! Liz, up at the front greeted us every time we arrived with a smile and on our way out between games said good luck to our boys. She too, was very friendly and answered any questions we had without hesitation. I wish I could remember the maid who was in the hallway the one morning we left to go to our game, she saw us come out of our room and asked if we needed anything we were short towels but weāre leaving and she said no worries Iāll get it taken care of; when we got back to our room that night they were in on our bathroom vanity. If we are ever in the area for another hockey tournament we WILL BE booking at this hotel. Thank you ladies for being so awesome...
