I'm not sure how this place has high reviews considering the horrid quality of the food we received today. I feel like they saw these dishes at another restaurant and just made their best attempt at recreating them without consulting any traditional recipes. I also think the health inspector should make a surprise visit to investigate severely aged food and cross contamination.
First off, I have never seen nor even heard of egg drop soup being served as they serve it, which is lettuce in broth. That is not egg drop soup, plain and simple. A simple google search for a recipe will prove my point.
Hot and sour soup was so old it had began to congeal to a near jelly like state. I also found a singular shrimp tail in the hot and sour soup which isn't typically expected. I don't believe I saw a disclaimer about it containing shellfish on the menu either. That makes me wonder about cross contamination and thank God I'm not allergic to shellfish.
"General's Chicken" as they called it, was made nowhere near the time of my order. It was so old I can only hope it was prepared this morning for the sake of my gut health. The breading was separating from the chicken to the point that there was a noticeable space between them. The sauce used for this dish wasn't anything that even resembles a traditional General Tso dish. It was nearly tasteless except for the bizarre hint of sugar in the sauce. It made me wonder if it was just brown sugar mixed with some vague syrup of sorts to make it a brownish tint. It wasn't even spicy as the menu said it would be. How do you mess up one of the 3 most common Chinese dishes?
As of writing this, its been about 3 hrs since the meal and both my girlfriend and myself are beginning to feel poorly. I can only hope we didn't get food poisoning from this place. Thankfully we barely even ate 1/4 of the food before both agreeing to leave. This is hands down the worst "Asian" food I've...
Read moreUsed to love Chee Pengs. However after my last experience, we will not be dining in anymore. There were two extremely rude men that were yelling at customers for not shutting the entrance door. However, the door was not latching correctly and it was not the customers fault. The one man actually called an elderly gentleman a "citiot" and got up and slammed the door extremely hard, after which the door would not latch at all. Meanwhile, the waitress totally encouraged this behavior saying to the rude men "all day. Every day" while rolling her eyes and smiling at them. It was extremely uncomfortable for my son and I, and we unfortunately will not be returning. The behavior was childish and ignorant to say the least. As a local that has worked with the public for over 40 years and has dined here for over 20 years I am appalled and embarrassed that people would act like that and even more saddened that the staff would encourage such behavior. Let's do...
Read moreThe soups are delicious, all the appetizers have been good, but I cannot find a single main course that isn't bland, tastes off or seem un-fresh and randomyly slapped together. The last and final time I'll be going here I got the ped se eww which tasted nothing like the other places I've gotten it and not in a good way, (which is the case with everything I've tried here) my girlfriend got a chinese chicken dish which tasted like how dirty dishwater smells and had about 2 onions worth of onion and we both got horrible indigestion. I try not to write negative reviews for local businesses but good god man, I don't know how they stay open. Dining room is very uninviting, the bathroom is shoebox sized and there's always only one waitress running around like crazy doing the entire front of house, you can rarely get through on the phone to place a pick up because of this. If it wasn't for the soups and apps it'd...
