The facilities and staff of the Springhill Suites by Marriot Overland Park Leawood are best in class. Over the last six weeks, I’ve logged over 30 nights at the hotel. The rooms are new, spacious, well-appointed, clean, with the right balance of amenities, functionality, and comfort. Where the hotel truly shines is its staff. A few anecdotes:
• Within the first 24 hours of my first visit all members of the front desk knew and addressed me by name. The hotel's general manager made a point to personally reach out, welcome me to the property, and extend her contact information in the event she could do anything to ensure my stay met the highest expectations.
• While all members of the hotel's team are professional, polite, and responsive, a few deserve individual recognition: Krystal and Jason with the front desk have graciously extended every accommodation, be it last-minute check-outs, check-ins, preferred room choice, and otherwise.
• The hotel is centrally located, with access to a variety of excellent restaurants, attractions, shopping, and the major employers in the area. In 15 minutes, a group of guests or business travelers can be downtown for less than $25 via ride share.
• If for no other reason than to keep this from coming across as a marketing effort, I’ll note that the southern exposure is approximately 1,000 yards from a major interstate. On an initial stay, I was booked in a southern-most room. The traffic at rush hour was audible. That noted, moving four doors north, I forgot and was never reminded on the highway again.

Read moreAfter an 8 day road trip with family of 4 adults, staying in various types of accommodations (some houses & some hotels), this was an extremely pleasant find. Our room was one of the largest standard hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. The separate living space that transitioned into 2 sleeping spaces was fantastic, allowing our group room to spread out and relax/sleep. Lots of space for each of our bags, hooks for toiletry bags, mini fridge, guest laundry, ice machines, gym were all used by members in our group. This hotel is very clean, fresh finishes, and quiet...I think it was pretty well booked but we didn't hear any noise from other guests.
I would like to add 2 areas where I think this hotel could improve. One was, the door lock on the bathroom didn't work and appeared to be damaged. The other is, the website shows the sofa providing 2 seperate areas to sleep with the top cushion acting as one space as well as the pull-out trundle bed made up into a bed for a second space, both shown with white sheets on the website but in our room there was only one set of bedding left in the room and not two which left one sleeping space without any bedding. When we asked for a second set, we were only given a fitted & flat sheet but no pillow or blanket. I feel by showing both areas as being made up into a bed on the website that the guest shouldn't be made to feel as though they are asking a lot for a second set of bedding and to be declined a full set saying there wasn't any more bedding available. Staff is new and not knowledgeable at all, but instead of telling you this they try to fake their way through like they know what they are doing. Once you realize their mistake the manager comes out and say well they are in training, I cant fix it anymore as it is already done. Location is not easy to get in and out of, Rooms are okay but not at Marriott Standards (coming from a Marriott member). I not book here unless its the last hotel available within an hour. UPDATE: Management at this location is a absolute joke. Had Marriott reach out to them 4 times to get back to me on jacking the pricing up on us and taking advantage of us. They refused to reach out. Then finally they took Marriott's call and offered to give us $50 refund, so I was going to get on here and update my review to let everyone know they did the right thing, however been over a week ago and haven't refunded the money, so I am thinking that isnt going to happen.
