I have mixed feelings about Sherwood Forest RV park.
The Good: The location was outstanding for us, right next to the Pinellas trail, close to the causeway, Honeymoon State Park, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. You're in the middle of a small residential community by the name of Palm Harbor. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the free, FAST wifi in the communal rec room.
The Less Good: we're working and we just couldn't get a consistently strong Verizon signal. This baffled me, but we were in spot 39 which is in a bit of a valley and behind some large trees. About 50% of the folks at this park are permanent residents which gives the place a very different vibe from your typical highly transient RV park. Most of the amenities RVs are looking for are a little tired here: the bathrooms were dirty (not filthy, but just not very clean); the 30A circuit breaker failed for me - I assume that's because they don't get that many smaller rigs coming and going. Most of the residents seem to keep to themselves, as you might expect in a more permanent Mobile Home park.
Yes, I would happily stay here again, but only for a few days to enjoy the Pinellas trail and all that Dunedin, Clearwater, and Tarpon Springs has...
Read moreI like what one of the other reviews said, STOP! First of all, it takes almost no effort to be pleasant to people, people come in from a long trip they want to be greeted by someone that's happy to see you. We stayed there just 2 days, the lot was mostly dirt and the ground was squishy when you walked on it. we were parked next to the laundry room and the entire wall next to us was crawling with ANTS!.Thank God we only stayed the 2 days rather than the month we planned on staying because after two days our RV was infested with them, a week later we are still dealing with them. When I explained that to the lady at the office , she simply said, "Florida has Ants" DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! They really seemed not to care. They also had three rat traps along the wall that hadn't been emptied in a while Again, like someone else said, STOP! Caladesi RV Park across the street is a much better choice. Edit: I explained that we had to leave because our RV was covered in ants, and your reply was, FLORIDA HAS ANTS, You didn't offer any solution. Your cynicism affects...
Read moreWe stayed here for 4 nights a few weeks ago. The park is clean and felt safe but there are so many residents, it seemed like we were intruding in a trailer community instead of relaxing in a campground. We were placed next to a resident and we felt like we were imposing to be outside talking or sitting at the picnic table for meals. There is a lovely pond with a beautiful swan that swims around and so many birds that it would have been nice to sit out and enjoy watching them. The dog park is a small fenced in area at the road with no shade and a plastic chair. Luckily, there are a few actual dog parks within a few miles. The office staff was wonderful and super friendly. If you are looking for a place for an extended stay or to winter, this may be a great park for you. For the average few night camper, I would suggest looking elsewhere. It just doesn't feel...
