My stay for 6 days 5 nights was Great!!! Yes. I read the reviews before I came, and I was worried I was taking a big risk. I came for a conference being held just 12 min from the hotel. I didn't wantvto drive, rather chose to use Lyft. Glad I did. Did not want to drive through the toll roads, all the superhighway. I chose to enjoy the conference as much as I could. From airport to this hotel was 36.00 that incl. $5 tip. I used Hilton app to check in early at 12:30 for 3pm arrival. So I grocery shopped at a near by Kroger $6 ride w $5 tip. Arrived to hotel 3pm. Room not ready but would be in 30 min. And it was, by that time. Lobby clean looked great, comfortable seats, and computer area while I waited. Arrived to a clean room, kitchen had everything (ask for hot plate and fry pan w lid--for those that will cook=it is provided on asking for it). Door to room locked great, no issues. Had signs for Do not disturb etc. Bathroom door us close to refrigerator but that was not a problem that I saw. Maybe if there's 3-4 people all moving around room and through kitchen, but I had no one else w me that was stir crazy, and always in the way. Had a great fridge on top. Super clean. Freezer on bottom also very clean. Dishes and silverware and accessories clean. Paper towel roll lasted longer for my needs of 6 days. Dishwasher microwave and hotplate worked great. Cabinets met my needs for storing groceries 6 days. Huge room. Couch and sitting area w large tall mirror( facing bed made it easy to get dressed and ready each morning. Yes. There was a diving curtain, might be useful if kids sleeping on couch and wanted privacy while getting undressed for bed. Ok. A privacy screen. I saw no problem w that. The king-size bed was great. Hilton expectation of standards met. Room clean. No bugs. No smells. Kitchen great. Food disposer in sink. Ironing board w iron. Curtain used to cover closet. But I saw no problem w that. AC worked great during triple digit heat for my week there. Didn't have a view out window except Parkinson and freeway. But I was OK w that. TV had my name on screen saying welcome. Internet worked great, no issues for full time there. Plenty of light fixtures in room. Desk area was large and pulled out with more space and had a comfortable desk chair, good cushion. No I'm not a paid reviewer, just really shocked how everything looked great, worked great, friendly staff. Nothing like I read. Sure. I believe people had problems, but it was nothing like that now. Huge changes from what I experienced. No maintenance issues at all. I was there for last week of July. So I missed all the crazy relatives having reunions for July 4th. There were kids there in large families there at hotel, but we'll behaved. Very rarely heard running loudly down hall, if it did was very brief. Really makes a difference to miss the busiest holiday week, compared to final week of month. LYFT services were always available within 5 to 10 min. Even at 5am. Or 7pm. I always got back to hotel by 7pm. A bar and restaurant was within walking distance. Every thing else LYFT took me there less than $16 w a $5 tip incl for my needs. I uses the kitchen. I'm diabetic so I chose food wisely but great choices from nearby Kroger. Was super happy about all provided like a home2 suite provided. It was great! Very pleased. Housekeeping was friendly. Yes they only came once but I never requested for them. But they came for one routine check during week. I always git towels when I wanted, just asked while they were working in hallway near my room. Never had door lock issues. No one barging in. No one leering just watching weirdly. It was just families. No construction going on. No feeling unsafe in parking lot. Well lit. Helpful staff. Now, the breakfast. Wow. Met my expectations well. Yes it was pretty made omelets cheese and omelets southwestern green pepper cheese and ham bits. Scrambled eggs w melted cheese and sausage bites microwaved and ready in a bowl to eat, muffins about 3 kinds. Berries and nuts of several kinds to make your own trail mix for breakfast. Several diff fruits. Milk, ceral, waffles that you made yourself. Three juice choices. Plates cups bowls real. Then also had plastic ware if you so needed. Danish of diff choices. Sausage egg cheese mcmuffin style sandwiches, on another day w ham. Seriously. Was great choices. Lady worked constantly on keeping it filled. I cane down between 6am and 730. And never had a morning that I did not have choices. Yes even for a diabetic, my choices were slim but good. They offered granola and fruit snack bars too. Hey, things have really changed is all I can say. Someone listened to all the complaints and did something about it is all I ca say. Pool always had towels, extra waiting like 6=8 available everything I went down to it. It is a small pool. But clean. Had areas to lay in sun, and a couple to 3 tables near pool to sit. It was hot outside too. So jo one really stayed long even the kids (in 3 digit Temps 100+++) Alot of people complained of heat during day. During night not too bad though. Humidity is less in Texas than GA. So I tolerated it ok. They have a exercise room, but I never went. At front desk, they sell cold drinks and snacks 24/7. Have doggy snacks too. Never saw a pet there during my stay. Nice though they put out free snacks for the pets, if you brought one. Literally, my needs were planned out and prepared for, expected or made available. Very pleased to see the Hilton standard being met for those that came during my time( last week of July). Don't know about July 4th. But I can tell you it was great and pleasant for my whole 6 days I was there. Not annoying. Elevators worked well. No long waiting times. One afternoon a sign was up saying temporarily down. But it was fixed in a couple of hours no more than that, and the other elevator worked great. No ice machine problems. I bought plasticware to eat with cups bowls forks spoons knifes because I didn't know what really to expect from reading reviews. But I had everything I needed. Clean. Quiet overall. No strange construction workers leering or staring at people. Felt safe even outside. They have a great place lounge couches tables and chairs out in front of building entrance to relax in a shaded area more so toward the evening that offered good breezes. Must have been from the spiraling highways like spaghetti junction that is in near viewing. One last thing I need to mention. Holiday Inn is next door. Every LYFT driver had to be told "not Holiday Inn come further down street about 500ft see triangle safety sign at entrance of HiltonHome2suites." Seems on Navigation words only show Holiday Inn and Suites--so you don't know it left off words Home2suites on navigation screen. That was My only complaint I had during my stay. Also Hilton is partnering with LYFT and can get more points w Hilton for every dollar spent w LYFT. One thing I should mention. If you planned a day in advance for a LYFT it cost you almost double. After I had been there a couple of days, I realized there was no shortage of LYFT cars even from 4am to 7pm. I heard from other drivers they were out 24/7. From what I saw, this was very true. So even at 4am to 730am I planned my day within 15 min waits and less never missed a ride, or had a delay. Saved about $350 of rental fee for that week and spent less than $150. But again. I used the kitchen for my meals. And breakfast provided by hotel was Great, seriously. Was very pleased with my whole stay. And the conference being so close made it even better. Oh. HOBBY Airport was close by too. I didn't need to leave the hotel for much. My compliments to management and staff (especially the lady who set up the breakfast bar every morning she was awesome) Thanks for making all the...
Read moreOverall, the stay was fairly pleasant with very minor complaints given my party size / style of stay, and I’d likely stay again if I needed to be in that area for a short term. I think for a family or a truly long term stay it could get a bit annoying.
Pros: Front desk staff were helpful, efficient. Anytime I needed anything, they had it to me right away. They also seem to take pride in the lobby with everything decorated nicely and a bit like a home (some touches seemed above and beyond what would be required and I appreciated it). The room (we had a king studio) was pretty nice with a comfortable bed, tons of storage for clothes and bags, and a good size bathroom. The kitchenette had a full size fridge with separate freezer which is great for longer term stays. As expected, full dishes, utensils, and even some i didn’t expect like larger serving pieces. Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived. There was ample parking, and the gym / laundry were conveniently located.
Cons: The breakfast was disappointing. Served only from 6-9 (9:30 on weekends) which isn’t entirely unusual but can be rough especially if you’re working off a severe time difference, and instead of the usual buffet fare, we had choices of “hot” sandwiches (premade, meaning those with allergies or dietary restrictions beware) along with a really subpar selection of cold items. I came down for breakfast at 8am, and almost everything hot was gone, save for the make your own waffles I suppose (not my thing), so I pieced together what I could picking around the staples that were also missing (milk for cereal, for one). I ended up making my own breakfast the rest of my stay.
The kitchenette is also a bit disappointing. There was no cooktop in room, but you could ask for a portable skillet. The layout was also pretty rough as it was galley style which served as the hallway to the door / bathroom. You couldn’t be in the kitchen while someone was getting in and out of the bathroom (given the large door size), and it was a bit cramped on countertop space for prep.
There was also a weird curtain the could be pulled between the sofa and the bed, I guess for privacy, except it was paper thin so it didn’t really do anything to help privacy, and didn’t really help block any light or sound from things like the window / TV between the two sleeping areas. It would be much better to have an actual architectural barrier like a partial wall/actual room divider or just take it down altogether.
We also had a door that didn’t close all the way unless you really pulled it hard, which put us on edge that we’d leave the room open when we’d leave. There were a few men staring at us (a small group of women) checking in and watching as we’d enter and exit the room as they were on our floor, which left for some pretty stressful moments. Good maintenance on the doors would be highly...
Read moreWe stayed on two different Saturdays in our vacation week in early July. The room and hotel seem new and we enjoyed that part of our stay. The stays varied widely in the level of customer service. The first stay we arrived around 1 AM and were not welcomed in any way by the young man at the front desk when we arrived. I had chosen a room online in the AM and over 15 hours later there was no digital key. The young man said something about "the system being down." Then when we later asked for our Hilton gratuity (water), he looked us up on the computer before providing it. In addition, when we returned from getting some to go food, we were greeted by two raccoons. They seemed friendly and came to the porch where we were standing. We surmised hotel guests may have been feeding them. However, wild animals can carry rabies and other diseases. They need to be relocated. When we went to check out on the app, it wasn't available so we had to check out at the front desk. This whole visit defeated Hilton's system of digital check-in and checkout.
On our second stay, the young woman at the front desk in the afternoon was welcoming and recognized me as a Honors member and gave us our water. However, the digital system was still down and despite our making the reservation online with a credit card, I had to fill out a paper form giving name, address, and credit card info. My husband asked if this would be destroyed later. She told us "when you checkout, you can watch it being shredded." However, the next day, despite having checked out at the front desk, we were told by two different women sitting at the desk that the paper had to be held to verify acceptance of the room charges. Even when I explained that in checking out the bill was paid, they refused to return the form stating "it was kept safe in another area." We did see some kind of index card system on the front desk. Because of all this, I am strongly thinking of booking a different hotel chain on...
