Stay here! Ill give the honest review you want. I love it here, Been here about a week visiting my husband working in Petersburg so i can write a legit review. Main complaint, the coin dryer takes forever, they're working on fixing it. Hotel is quiet since it sits alone away from the city, yet quickly accessible to everything including The Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens which is AMAZING btw.About 30 minutes away. Google it beacuse (Amazing) is really an understatement. -The View My view is on the backside, since p-lot is in front i have no obstruction from being greeted a field full of wildflowers & wildlife along with the sunrise as the backside faces NE. Its a nice view in front too! Also has pretty field behing p-lot -The FREE Breakfast it's absolutely delicious, perfect bacon, MYO fluffy waffles, yoplait yogurt cups, cereal, buscuits-gravy, etc. even fresh hard boiled eggs already peeled. -The Indoor Heated Pool with Hot Tub It's very clean! it has some stains/chips from age, wear, & tear from use ofcourse but its a good size with a shallow & deep end, Hot tub is small but realxing. The pool room is surrounded in dark tile with a strip of beautiful iridescent glass under window level, which you can open, they have screens. One spot on the ceiling is having a time with all the humidity but everything else including the big vent pipes etc are very clean! The water is so warm you can walk right in and the pH is on point ranging around 7, it doesn't have that over excessive heavy chlorinated smell & does not burn your eyes. Theres BATHROOM right there which is also nice/clean.No need to go running back to your room to potty. I took my radio from my room, plugged by the patio table, used it to play music from my phone & had myself a pool party. -The Patio Right outside the pool is a roomy cement patio bordered by latice where the large grill sits. The boys use it to cookout on occasionally with a picnic table to eat on.also a picnic table across the p-lot in the grass too. Its accessible right from the P-Lot, no lugging your food from the store through the hotel to get in one door & out another. Pop the hatch & do your thing at patio. -SECURITY Someone is there 24-7 whether they are at the desk or not, they take the night hours to do some cleaning like tvs, glass, etc. There are nice cameras outside on every door so i feel super secure or if anyone were to snatch my steak from the grill when im not looking there's footage to show who done it! LOL -THE STAFF/HOUSEKEEPING Super nice & friendly, like for real, not the fake friendly. You know what i mean. They are actually happy to be there/help. Professional appearance & smile yet real people with awesome personalities. I love my hair braided but i can't do it myself so i asked the girl at the front desk (it was late & no one to greet or check in/out) if she minded giving me a hand, she gladly volunteered. So i washed/dried my hair with the free good quality mini shampoo /conditioners & she fixed me up in a jiffy with an adorable braid. I was thrilled. Houskeeping has stocked me up with plenty of towels and wash rags, happily checking every day to see if i need toiletries or anything. Im still determined to catch them making the bed because the way they make a bed is magic. -AND FINALLY THE ROOM It has little wear except some scuffs on the furniture but very good condition compared to other hotels ive stayed. Ofcourse popping up to surprise my husband at the end of the week the room was trashed smh* but housekeeping hooked me up. The room is spacious with floor to ac unit classy curtains that can be opened to a nice large window or completely blacked out if you wanna sleep in & not know what time of day it is. Nice textured walls, up to date paint in earthy warm tones, some modern accents along with a long outfit critique mirror and another mirror over the desk. This room has 2 Q beds that are very comfy, with fluffy feather filled pillows, soft sheets, & a nicely weighted blanket thing, idk what it's call but it goes between sheet &...
Read moreGoogle asks me to rate "Rooms". Well, just like other earthlings, there is only one of me in any given place and time, so I can only tell you about the room I stayed in.
It was clean. There was no debris or evidence or belongings of other guests. There were no strong smells or smells of products to cover up the smells of strong smells. No stains on the bed and the towels were clean. By the way, the bed was great. Not too hard not too soft. It didn"t dump me onto the floor and it didn't roll me into the center. The public areas are clean also.
Check-in: Erica checked me in, and she was professional and courteous. She asked "What brings you to town? (or some similar wording)". I know this is a marketing question so hats off to having her ask this question. Maybe when management looks at the answers to this question they might use the data to gear up the hotel to better serve guests. Who knows. Anyhow, I gave Erica a snarky answer. When she asked "What brings you here" which is minimally intrusive way of asking "Why did you choose to stay at this hotel", I answered back "I-95". Erica caught the humor in my response and convinced me to explain the real reason was a drive from Orlando to NJ and I needed a stop point. Props to Erica. She was both professional and personable.
Noise: None. No noise. The sleep inn was SILENT all night long. I read another review that army soldiers stay here. Well if that is true they are in bed early and out the door early and they walk quieter than walk mice pooping on cotton. I didnt hear even a door close.
TV: it worked. it was nice, too. I did not have to mess with it, it just did what it was supposed to do. The sleep inn uses a standard germ-a-phobe Clean Remote. The cardboard thing that it sits in on the desk tells you all about why the plastic its made from kills germs if you bother to read it. Nice big clear display.
Bathroom: the ONLY and I mean ONLY thing I wish this place did differently... they put new bars of individually wrapped soap in the soap dish of the shower stall.
for me, i'd rather see the newly packaged soap lined up with its brother and sister in the new shampoo/lotion line up on the bathroom vanity.
That is prob due to my OCD and means nothing about the sleep inn
So all in all its a good clean...
Read moreUnfortunately the lights went out the morning of our departure. We asked the front desk what accommodations was going to be made for our inconvenience. Well apparently there wasnât anything in place for these type of situations. We had to literally ask for a check out extension. I think it shouldâve been a given. In the meantime, my family and I was sitting in the lobby because that was the only area with lights. Well while we were sitting in the lobby one of the housekeeping staff members was disgruntled. He was vulgar with his swearing in front of guest and children. The GM didnât diffuse the situation but contributed to it. She couldâve responded more professionally instead of telling the employee âto get out and donât come back â. (Very unprofessional) Being in a leadership position this behavior is unacceptable. The GM didnât apologize immediately after this incident happened. (Which is crazy!)?So eventually I went to the room to try to take a shower in the dark. I had to not only take a shower in the dark but in COLD WATER. I informed the front desk that my shower was Cold. She told the GM my concerns and the response from the GM was âthe water is gas and not electric so there shouldnât be an issue with the waterâ. No apology or concern. Wow! So to end this miserable situation/experience we asked would our room be on the house due to our inconveniences? Well that apparently didnât happen! The response was I have to ask my GM.......so again it should have been a given since the guest was inconvenienced. We were late to our event and was miserably hot. (No air conditioner) (Cold shower) Not sure of the outcome of the room refund because we had to leave to go to our event. I do want to say the front desk clerk was more professional and calm than the GM. I also feel if the GM didnât fraternize with her employees they would have more respect for her. Iâm...
