Before I checked in I called the hotel to ask if they had the Amana units digital to 60° for the AC setting and they said yes. I get there and it's an LG unit with a wall thermostat.I set it to 60 as I have medical issues,I need it cool and dry to sleep or I wake feeling sick.I later found out it was rigged to rise to 68° unless room had "movement",energy saving device.. I slept very poorly the first night because it sensed no movement in the room and it reverted to 68°. The manager overrode the system the next AM. and told me she would compensate me financially for what I now consider a day they took from me that I can never get back. Then after that I slept good every night as LG units are good. I had an LG unit at two hotels in Connecticut that went to 54 degrees (believe it or not)so that's probably why they have a wall thermostat. In the years I have been going to the Woodsprings in MA,RI,IL,NC,TN,FL,GA,PA the only one that had a wall thermostat was in Pooler, Georgia near Savannah rigged to shut off at 65°. When I discovered it I wanted to leave and they said no refund so I had to stay and deal with it for a week but never went back. All the other Wood Springs I've been to all have the newer Amana units digital to 60 with controls on the unit. So always ask before you stay at Woodsprings what kind of unit they have and how low AC goes. And if you ever see a wall thermostat ask if the manager can override the system so it stays on 60° if you need it cool to sleep at night. It does have nice wood floors, it does have a nice gym, it does have a nice big high-definition LG TV, it does have a nice bathroom. It does not have a toilet seat cover so bring your own if you want one. The only other Woodsprings I've ever seen without a toilet seat cover is Madison Tennessee I went to the Walmart next to it and bought a toilet seat cover just to cover the toilet seat. Also had to go find an area laundromat as their machines were not accepting payment. Hotel is near the Philadelphia Mills Mall and near the highway, I won't return because it looks like a concrete jungle everywhere and I like areas with parks and green spaces. But it served the purpose this week of avoiding a heatwave in the Atlanta area. Manager is very nice and all of the staff are...
Read moreReview of my one night stay (traveling for business 9/23-9/24.
Room: worst night's sleep. Springy bed, 2 flat pillows that don't fit the bed. 50 ct thread sheets and hospital grade blanket. Floor was sticky. Full kitchen, with no cooking or eating utensils.... so I have no idea how travelers can cook a meal there. No in room coffee pot. Seems like a waste for tourists or those traveling for business. The entire hotel smelled like weed. No hand towels or tissues. No hair dryer. 1 bar of soap and a small bottle of what may have been bodywash (note: I was so disgusted with the room I didn't use the shower). Sheets were stained.
I've stayed at Home2Suites, Homewood Suites, Fairfield Suites. This hotel is not up to the level of the others. Not even close. It was more like a dorm room-an empty shell.
Guests: This appears to be a hotel where a lot of people actually live.
Service: the front desk employees were nice, but I did think it was weird that the woman at check in made a copy of my drivers' license. No hotel I have ever stayed in the world has done that. My guess is that the hotel policy must require that because of issues with guests... which should have been my first clue something was off about this place. Did it make me want to immediately run? Yes! But I would have had to eat the cost of the hotel room.
I've seen many responses on the reviews from the manager saying "sorry to hear about the bad review...that's not the level of service we are known for." But if there are this many bad reviews all basically saying the same thing, it must be the level of service you are known for and give.
Location: it was a 10 minute drive from my meeting the next day, and has easy access to main highways. For my purposes, the location was great. There were a lot of restaurants in driving distance but nothing walkable other than a strip mall that seemed sketchy at night.
If you are a family or solo traveller traveling for business or pleasure, avoid this hotel at all costs. The concerning reviews...
Read moreMy family and I traveled to Pennsylvania for my son's movie direction film festival and booked nine nights stay at your establishment. While we understand that unforeseen situations can occur, we were very unsettled by an incident involving two individuals who were allowed to sleep on the lobby couch in plain view of guests checking in and out. The worker and multiple individuals were residing in the lobby like its their front room. Under blankets and in lounge wear. We are unsure if cameras are working but this type of behavior seems very very unsettling. These actions occured 4 nights.
This situation created a negative impression not only for my family but also for other paying guests. Given the high cost of our stay, especially in today’s challenging economic climate, we expected a certain standard of professionalism and hospitality. Allowing non paying guest to be so free to lay out in lobby is a smack in the face. Witnessing such behavior significantly impacted our experience and has made us hesitant to consider returning to your hotel in the future. We checked out a day early. I hope that management will take the necessary steps to address this issue to ensure that future guests do not encounter similar situations.
Rooms: Floors was sticky, was told to discard own trash or be charged $10 a bag. Had to take dirty linens downstairs to ask for clean linens. What's the point of house keeping?
Location: conveniently located off major highway. Local stores and...
