Before our stay at the Plant City Holiday Inn Express, we always consider the HIE hotels as the GO TO hotels never again. WE now are seriously looking at other hotels for any future travel stays. I will start from our arrival at this Property.
We were told that the elevator was not working and they did not know when it was going to be fixed. We could however use the stairway to the third floor to get to our room. We were offered the help of a on site Maintenance Man but he was quite busy. We waited for 20 minutes and he did not come. We moved our three weekend bags up the stairways to the 3rd floor. We are both over 80 years old but we finally got our bags to our room.
The Stairway was dirty with trash and dust ever where.
When we arrived there was garbage near the handicap parking stops and two Raccoons eating. Across from the Main Entrance.
During check-in I asked the Front Desk Person if our rate was going to be adjusted for the lack of an elevator and the garbage & Raccoons out front of the entrance. We were told that we would have to take that up with the Manager tomorrow, but she felt that there was not going to be any adjustment.
In our room 307 both the Smoke & Fire Alarms were covered with some type of material that I believe would have prevented them from working.
This hotel had gone through the remodeling that most HIE have been going through for the last several years. The King Bed had not been renewed but should have been renewed for sure. The two of us continued to slant to the center of the King Bed and we are not over weight people. The Room Chair and Foot Stool were both stained and really dirty.
In over 40 years of international business travel, I have never been in an HIE that was so BAD. Plus, it appeared that current Management does not have an interest in changing this property and are interested in only maximizing the cash flow from the property.
As we travel, in the future we will only consider HIE as a last resort and not the...
Read moreThis hotel is in a convenient location right off of I-4 in Plant City. We needed a hotel for 1 night as we were attending a 50th wedding anniversary party about 15 minutes away and there were no hotels close to the location of the party. The hotel is easy to find. There is ample parking and the parking lot is well lit. The area is safe with several places to eat within walking and driving distance. The front desk staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating. The hotel is very nice inside. They bake fresh cookies in the evening and there are plenty breakfast items in the morning to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. We had a suite for 3 people and there was plenty of room. The only negative was the floor in the foyer and bathroom was a little sticky. Even with shoes on, it felt a little gross. Other than that, the room was clean. My guess is that it was the product used to mop the floor or that this room was mopped towards the end of the day when the mopping solution was weaker. With that said, I would stay here again if ever in Plant City. The hotel is a great value considering you get a night's stay and a good...
Read more$160 per night & wasn't worth it. I will say, right off the bat, the desk staff and woman who worked the continental breakfast area were exceptional! The lobby was nicely decorated and very welcoming. Did not visit swimming pool area. Close to the highway. The guest rooms are in great need of renovation. The chair in my room was stained on both the seat cushion and the back rest, near the top. The furniture had been dusted, which is good, but the carpet looked like it hadn't been cleaned since its installation. The carpeting near the baseboards has not been vacuumed in months. A layer of white dust was visible at least 2" from the wall trim. Chipped and scuffed paint. The continuous, overwhelming odor of well water was nauseating. My brother, who stayed in a different room than I (at the same location), and has worked in hospitality for over 30 years as director of engineering, stated he would be fired if rooms in his building were in the same shape as ours. He stated if we were paying $80.00 per night, he might expect the rooms to be in the condition they were. If I visit Tampa again, I'll be sure to book at the Hampton...
