OK, so I just finished a 4½ month stay there (as my condo was being repaired from a bad fire), so if anyone knows what the current quality of the stay is, it's probably me lol. I'll be very honest about my experience. (I stayed in 2 different rooms, and both were fairly consistent in their quality).
THE ROOMS- So, there's absolutely no doubting that the rooms are quality. The bed/mattress is beyond comfortable; these aren't cheap mattresses and pillows, they're high end. The room itself is very spacious, and the bathrooms are fairly big as well. The furniture is pretty standard- a really comfortable rolling chair, and a standard couch that was fine for what it was. great full length mirror. really big HD TV that had basic cable and several HDMI ports, all of which I used with no problem. The remotes were odd, as it took holding down buttons awhile for them to work, but that wasn't that big of a deal. The plumbing was so-so, but the staff took care of it when told. (and it didn't help that i accidentally flushed a key!) By far the biggest issue was the noise, as the walls are objectively REALLY thin. Even so, there wasn't much noise at all, so it wasn't a big deal. ROOMS: 92/100
AMENITIES- There was a working microwave, a working fridge (that could have been set a little colder, but otherwise fine), and a quirky coffee-kcup machine that once you got used to, was superb. Breakfast was served every morning, and it wasn't bad at all. Really nice pool. The internet was definitely the most iffy amenity; I had no signal until I called the IHG tech hotline, at which point I got a signal strong enough to meet basic needs, but not any more than that. The rooms were spotless, and the housekeeping staff did their job exceptionally well when needed- they left our belongings alone, and made sure everything was cleaned thoroughly. When the Do Not Disturb sign was left out, they never bothered us, and were always friendly and not a bother. A real highlight. The elevator was wonky, but did it's job AMENITIES- 94/100
Staff- The front desk staff helped us with every question/problem/issue we had. VERY competent people. The afternoon manager (light/reddish-haired woman) was absolutely a treasure to this HIE- never engaged with us when we were busy, she was beyond friendly when we interacted with her. They all took care of all my packages that came, and pointed the Uber Eats people directly to us. The only time anyone ever took issue with us was when I was literally not the best tenant, either asking me to not throw cigarette butts on the ground, or asking how I wanted to handle ruining one of the mattress covers, neither of which was the least bit unfair. STAFF- 99/100
LOCATION- speaks for itself, 99/100
You'll enjoy your stay here. A lifelong resident of Plymouth, I don't know of a better hotel that's ever existed in...
Read moreI recently spent two nights here while visiting my hometown of Plymouth, and I had zero complaints. The room was spacious, clean and cool, and the location excellent: it's right by the intersection of US 44 and state route 3, the main Boston-Cape highway. Furthermore, it's flanked by two fixed route bus stops on the regional GATRA transit, both in short walking distance. There's a CVS, Walgreens and a bank in line of sight for those needing such things, and it's a mile from the Plymouth waterfront.
Beyond that, the price (through Expedia) was excellent, just over $100 a night, which for July in Plymouth is eyepopping.
All my interactions with staff were just fine. My bus connections got in quite early, and I wound up calling to ask if I could check in two hours before the normal time. No problem; I could. They're still doing daily housekeeping, which many places no longer offer. Nor did they pull that obnoxious "hold" many hotels now do.
Another thing I ought to mention is the breakfast they serve. At most hotels claiming to serve breakfast, it's one of those "continental" ones that translates to a coffee machine and a handful of shrink-wrapped store-bought danish. Not here: it's a BUFFET, serving pork and sausage, pancakes, fresh fruit, eggs, omelets, cereal, yogurt, decidedly fresh danish, bagels, juices and tea etc ... ample quantities of everything. I was not only charmed, I went out for each day stuffed.
I'd also like to address the safety "issue" cited by a reviewer below, which I'd take with a grain of salt even if it wasn't the fellow's sole "review." Yes, the inn is adjacent to an apartment complex that does have lower income people in it. But that's where the bus stop also is, which I used several times without any qualms or issues. Since I'm not particularly freaked out by "OMG!!, there are POOR PEOPLE in my LINE OF SIGHT, ahhhhh!!!" I see no reason to invent problems where there aren't any.
I would not only stay here again, I plan on doing...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed a week at this particular holiday inn express in Plymouth. He has family in Hyannis and Boston so it was an in between point for visits. The staff were very helpful and professional. The rooms clean. The walls are thin unfortunately so if you have a loud guest next door or a few doors down, you will hear them. The hotel had signs posted to wear masks in public areas but hardly NO ONE including the staff were masked nor was it enforced. I have stayed at other IHG properties where at least the staff are masked even if they are not comfortable enforcing guests to be masked in public areas.
The buffet was okay. Hot foods (pork links, scrambled eggs, cheese omelet, pancakes) were available. On our last day they did have turkey patties available. Bananas, oranges for fruit. Bagels, muffins and regular bread as well as cinnamon rolls.
Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cold cereals and hot oatmeal, so lots of variety. The juices thought were watered down. Some of the foods were prepacked but mostly open buffet. I have stayed at other IHG hotels where they had hot food but had one server behind a petition serve guests.
The rooms were a nice size and had enough outlets and lighting which we appreciated. The bathroom had counter space and was modern, but the bathtub needed to be resurfaced. The faucet in the tub was coming out of the wall (room 302). Other than that, the room was far enough where we didn't hear a lot of other guests.
They had washers and dryers ($2.00 each) A small box of Tide was $3.00 from the front desk.
The fitness room was extremely small. I did not feel comfortable working out if someone else other than my partner was in there. The indoor pool was more for children, very small and not very deep.
It is right off the highway, convenient to shops and...
