I visited this store to use their fax machine. I had to fax about 42 pages to California. When I tried it myself the machine kept saying that there was a paper jam so I asked for assistance. The employee, Nejah, was very kind and help me figure out that I was trying to fax too many pages at once so we split the packet in half and set it up to fax both at the same time on two separate machines since it takes about 2 minutes per page to complete the fax. The first one started to process so she went back to her register to do her tasks for the day. I went on the fax the rest while the first half was processing and it showed me a screen with the price. The price was pretty high so I canceled it and went to try to cancel the first half but it would not allow me to. I asked Nejah if it’s possible to cancel it on her end and refund the money. She informed me that there was not a way to do that but said she would speak to her manager to see if he could help me. Brian came over and was very kind. He understood that I would not have completed the first half of the fax if I knew it was so pricey(even though their fax prices were posted on the wall I was oblivious to that with my new mom brain and did not see it!). Brian told me he would allow me to process the second half of the fax and apply a coupon to the whole order of both faxes to make the total half of what it would have been! I was so appreciative because these two employees did not have to do this kind gesture for me and they did. I will definitely return to this Staples in the future since they have such kind and hard working employees! Thank you, Nejah and Brian for your...
Read moreI’ve had a few poor experiences at this Staples location, but today was the last straw. I came in to print a document for my grandfather’s funeral and noticed it was coming out on slightly thick, glossy paper—not standard printer paper. I asked the employee if they had regular paper available, and instead of trying to understand what I was asking, he just stared at me and said that was “standard”. I explained this paper was thicker and had a glossy finish that the normal paper I’ve used daily in the office and at home don’t have. He just repeated that it was standard and there was no effort to listen, clarify, or help.
Even if that paper is technically standard for their machines, they should realize that in everyday life and most offices, people don’t use thick, glossy paper for basic documents. I don’t think it was unreasonable to ask if other paper options were available.
Staples’ website says black-and-white printing starts at $0.24 per page, but I was being charged $0.49—so clearly I wasn’t being given the standard paper or pricing.
While this might seem minor, it’s frustrating that you can’t ask a simple question and get help. I left without printing what I needed and will be going to FedEx for...
Read moreI went to Staples to purchase a virus protector and a clean-up of my computer the other day and was appalled at the lack of knowledge and help I encountered. First of all they told me they had to do a diagnostic test on the computer which was free and took all of 10 minutes. Finding a virus they told me they had to get rid of that (cost $ 160.00) before they would install a virus protector for $99.00 . I refused and took my computer to Best Buy. They cleaned up my computer and installed a virus protector in less than an hour and the cost was $90.00. My computer is running smoothly now and at a good speed. I will never go back to Staples again. I also might add that last year I went to Staples and had my computer worked on in the same manner -- spent a good amount and it still really had little improvement. Staples tech department has gone down hill and Staples is very expensive in all departments-- even a pad of paper is outrageous. The young men at Best Buy (Geek Squad) are extremely knowledgeable and educated technicians and are able to answer any questions you may have and give you...
