We were very disappointed with our visit. First of all, the hotel website has dead reservation links, and a very clumsy interface. After I noticed that every single day after the night I booked was $20-30 cheaper, even on weekends in the summer, I tried to reschedule, with no luck. Direct email to the hotel is bounced back as undeliverable. No one answered the phone. When we arrived (and waited for help, as the staff was checked out in more ways than one), we asked about the price difference. The desk clerk only told us that, “the manager would know.” He didn’t offer any more information, or how to contact the manager. He only told us that— six hours after the previous guests’ check out time, and two hours after the 3 p.m. check in—the room was not cleaned or ready for us. It would be ready in “ten minutes.” No apologies were offered. The men’s restroom downstairs from the lobby had tables blocking the door. Both this staircase and the main stairs had the lights go out while we were on them. Extremely dangerous. Lights were also constantly flickering in the room, and an electrical buzzing noise came from the wall. Badly shaved-off bolts were sticking out above the headboard. All of these issues are in violation of several codes. A full half hour after our “ten minutes” we climbed the narrow stairs to pass housekeeping in the hall. After we peeked into several open rooms to try to see the numbers on the doors, she rudely gestured to our room, exasperated, saying, “It’s THAT one.” We thanked her, and she only grunted in response. I am so sorry that you were asked to do your job. The room was grungy, filled with dust and bugs, and smelled terrible. After settling in, my son had an allergic reaction to something-either the dust, cleaning products, or wood and cigarette smoke that was seeping in from outside. Three staff members were smoking in front of the entrance. We decided to leave. The same clerk did not even ask why, though he managed to charge us twice for one night—a night that we didn’t even stay. He didn’t say a word. I really wanted to enjoy our stay here. It’s a nice older place, the prices were reasonable on most nights, and the memory foam mattress looked like it would be cozy. It seems like the restaurant and special occasion were good. But the website, staff, and safety hazards aren’t worth it.

If you are looking for a middle range priced hotel, the Northeastland Hotel is going to be your best bet. Hotel prices at the time of my visiting ranged from $130 to about $300, the Northeastland was a compromise between these extremes. Other reviews spoke about how some of the rooms smelled like cigarette smoke or may have needed an update, but the double queen room I rented was perfect for my needs. There was a bed to sleep in, a shower to wash off in, a fridge and microwave, a dining table, and plenty of space to get a morning stretch in. The hotel restaurant had great options, I'm sad I didn't stay additional nights because I would have liked to explore some more menu options. They had a good range of drinks available, too. Front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They recommended a very nice bike path to run on that was close to the hotel. Parking was available at all times, but the elevator was not working during the time of my visit. One little detail that I found cute was the tape around the toilet that meant it had been cleaned and sealed to prevent usage until the customer arrived. Oh, and they still use keys, not keycards, for room access! Another note is the walkability of the area. The Northeastland is in the heart of the Presque Isle downtown. There are local businesses up and down Main Street that deserve your curious patronage. I recommend taking at least an afternoon to plan your shopping/perusal plan, and at least a solid morning to carry out your retail/restaurant agenda.

This place was wonderful and the staff was very accommodating and polite. If I wanted to be "that guy" the carpets in the hallways leading to the rooms and the ones in the room are a bit outdated. Everything in my room was very clean though and I slept like a baby. They should upgrade their cable system for the Tvs to accommodate apps like Netflix and prime with guest logins. Overall I would absolutely stay here again.

My girl and I went to this joke of a hotel on New Year's Eve this year. The place was run down on the outside with some updates that had been on the inside. We checked in and went to the lounge down stairs which was ok. Not a lot of night life in that area which was ok because we like it quiet. Didn't really have much issue with the building itself but had a huge issue with the management that charged me an extra 250.00 because they said I smoked marijuana in the room. I didn't smoke in the room but I carry it with me because I have a medical marijuana card and use it medicinally. Now we did smoke it outside but never smoked inside. I don't even smoke inside at my own house. I tried to reach management via phone and email and they ignored me and never called me back or emailed me. Highly unprofessional of management to not return multuple customer calls and multiple emails. If I had done something wrong I am the kind of person who will admit it right away. It doesn't make sense to lie. I will never return to this place. My step dad and 10 of his friends used to go up there and snowmobile and stay at this place. That will never happen again. They will be staying at the Hampton inn a half mile or so down the road from now on. I hope they are happy with the 250 they robbed from me because it cost them thousands in future business. Don't waste your money in this dump. Go to the Hampton Inn up the road. Much much...
