My friend and I made a reservation online for 6:45p. I received a note via email from the hostess saying they could seat us earlier if we wanted to, which was kind. We arrived and parked out back where there was ample parking. The lobby of the Northeastland is beautiful. It feels like a cute boutique hotel and not like the County. It was easy to find the entrance to Rodney’s. We were promptly seated in very comfortable dining chairs. My friend ordered a cocktail which was good sized and she said was VERY fresh. The service was excellent and very prompt and the bread you are served pre-meal with house made butters are FANTASTIC.
I was a bit disappointed that the two options I was going between (stuffed chicken or the chicken in a pear tree sandwich) had BOTH been changed to chicken cordon bleu (I don’t eat pork so that was out) and the sandwich changed from the pear and fig salsa to a common mango salsa. I opted for that and my friend got the fish and chips. The food came quickly and everything tasted really fresh. The fries are well seasoned and portions were very generous. The plates felt really small for the amount of food you get (see photos).
Pricing was also so good! I got a main, coffee and dessert for $25 not including the tip. That’s very comparable to Governor’s or Ruby Tuesday’s for a dining experience that’s a step up.
The email confirmation of my reservation said to dress in business casual. My friend and I thought this was fun so we did dress up. Everyone else in the restaurant (literally) was in jeans and casual shirts. I really hope Rodney’s is successful and is able to achieve what they’re hoping to in being a step-up dining experience. I want to come back and try their pizzas. My dining experience was great and the food was pretty good. Definitely...
Read moreFirst off, I want to start by saying how grateful I am to have a place like Rodney’s in the county. It truly offers that bit of upscale, elegance, we could all use! I have frequented Rodney’s about half a dozen times, half of those times, I’ve been served by Katie. I won’t have enough room in this review to include all the amazing qualities Katie exudes. I will lead with the following: Katie is not only impeccably sweet and attentive, she gives off this effortlessly comfortable vibe, that is unmatched. She truly feels like someone I’ve known forever. She is knowledgeable, professional, down to earth, and above all, inventive. The second to last time she waited on us, she recommended a custom dish of hers, which I tried, and absolutely LOVED. I was shocked when I came in the next time and didn’t see it under the dinner entrees listed as the “Katie special.” This needs to be added immediately. In addition, on 4/2/24, Katie took on an entire dining room (all sections) by herself as head waitress ( with help from the lovely manager and an amazing new hire). Not only do I understand this type of situation, but I know what to look for. Not only did Katie walk around with a calm smile, unless you asked or noticed on your own, you would never even have know she was up against a very stressful circumstance. Her incredible, infectiously kind attitude, is one to be awarded. THIS is the type of attitude that defines quality customer service. I feel Katie is deserving of an assistant GM position. If not, a week off, fully paid. At minimum, every waitress/waiter, present and future should be shadowing her immediately. If you haven’t already been to Rodney’s, book a reservation today, and...
Read moreCollin, the front manager needs a different career path. The first time we were there, it was just mediocre, good service, bad Lobster Bisque. This weekend, our second try, it went beyond mediocre into the worst dining experience ever. Had to send back the $40 ribeye steak twice before we gave up on the third try. They ran out of white wine, and the floor manager gave my wife a hard time about her not liking the only white wine they had left. Only one left. He treated her with such rudeness and disrespect that I came out of my seat and said, "what did you just say to my wife??" He constantly was rolling his eyes at us and shrugged like he just didn't care. Eventually got to talk to the CEO, and she was nice but couldn't help since we had already paid our $220 bill for food we didn't eat. Despite the sub-par food at exorbitant prices, we will give it another try, as soon as they let go of Collin the abusive and disrespectful floor manager. Bartender was great, and our waitress was great and was embarrassed by the way we were treated. That's why SHE got a 30% tip in cash. Never going back if the manager is allowed to keep his job. The managers behavior wasn't just rude, it was plain unacceptable. And if you are going to charge 40 bucks for a steak...have someone who knows how to cook a steak do the cooking, please. The first experience I would have given 2 stars, this experience, I would give negative stars if I could. Presque Isle is too small of a town to have a restaurant with such potential, and staff it with malcontents in a managerial position, and not expect it to...
