I wanted somewhere stunning and cheerful to stay to mark the year of my Mom's passing. I didn't expect I'd be able to afford anywhere like the Breakwater. The views and easy cross the street access to the water are amazing. With the provided lounge deck chairs per each unit and the Adirondacks across the street, you actually don't even have to go anywhere else if you don't want to.
I used this hotel as a jumping off point to explore Herring Cove and Race Point which were both a very quick and easy drive. The Breakwater is nice in that it is close to downtown too should you want to explore there, but isolated enough to feel as if you are away from the main bustle.
The front desk lady was so friendly and chatty and helpful. I called to inquire if I could check in an hour early and was allowed without issue. That was appreciated as having never been to the Cape I stopped and walked nearly every beach all the way up it so was very tired by arrival. And when my pizza delivery arrived without utensils or plates, three staff worked together to provide me with improvised plates, plastic utensils, and napkins. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. This alone makes a hotel worth a stay. Nice people over "Here's your key" blank stares any day!
My stay was during the off season and I imagine this could be a busier, louder spot mid summer. However, I would guarantee this conveniently located, happily decorated and awesomely staffed hotel with amazing views would still be a wonderful get away. I...
Read moreThe staff at the front desk were very nice and friendly, which I appreciated. However, I was deeply disappointed and even concerned about the strong chemical smell in my room. It seemed like someone had spilled an entire bottle of cleaning product—possibly Clorox. I hoped I would get used to it, but by midnight, the odor was so overwhelming that I had to open both windows to let fresh air in.
Unfortunately, it was still close to freezing outside, and with the heating on, having the windows open was far from comfortable. I considered changing rooms, but it was off-season and past midnight, so no one was available at the front desk.
To make matters worse, in the morning, when I took a shower, the curtain appeared to be brand new and had a very strong plastic smell. With the steam in the small shower space, the odor became intense and almost toxic. While the room itself was fine, the combination of the chemical floor smell and the plastic shower curtain made me feel sick.
Next time, I would prefer to stay elsewhere to avoid dealing with such overpowering odors and concerns about breathing in potentially...
Read morePhenomenal getaway to a historically protected, immaculate, quiet, friendly motel that has been beautifully updated. I have terrible allergies and every room has a new minisplit, cooling perfectly. No mold or mustiness, as described in many of the older venues in the area. The room is comfortable, with top-of-the-line beds, bedding, and more. Because the site is protected, the bathroom size is small. Think of a cruise ship- small sink, but everything you need, beautifully appointed. The staff was wonderfully accommodating, storing my special milk for breakfast in their fridge, loaning extra towels, and more. Each room has a nice outdoor sitting area to watch the tide come in and out. Across the street, more chairs on a deck face the water. The bay is famous for low tide when the water recedes as far as the eye can see. The motel is situated just 5 minutes from Provincetown, where we enjoyed great dinners and strolls every evening. We drove 10-20 minutes to sample different public beaches. Glorious! We plan to visit again before or after the...
