This is our 19th year to stay at the Watermark Inn. Does that tell you how wonderful this place is? A 90 minute fast ferry ride from Boston, in the quiet East End of Provincetown. A lovely walking stroll in to town to our favorite restaurants (Mews, Front Street, Tin Pan Alley), and a myriad of art galleries and studios (Cortille and Symies are our favorites and we've beautiful artwork from both in our Boston condo). Best homemade chocolate truffles (pomengrante, salted caramel, and raspberry rose our favorites) and gelato at the Purple Feather. And do go into the public library to see the sailing ship that starts on one floor and its masts go through the ceilings, up two floors! Rent bikes from Arnolds and have a quicker way into town. Angels grocery and East End Deli a quick walk for breakfast foods, salads, beverages, etc. Big Stop and Shop a quck taxi ride plus liquor store there too - we stock up there at beginning of trip and then make runs to others. You do need to bring your own or buy coffee. Watermark has coffee maker, frenchpress, and does provide coffee filters. Watermark Inn itself: we stay in a corner first floor unit and our deck is literally on the ocean at high tide. In our bedroom (very comfortable king size bed) we can hear the ocean waves lap the shore as the tide comes in. Refrige and freezer, small dishwasher, coffee maker, microwave, electric kettle, two burners and some pots and pans - dishes, silverware, utensils, wineglasses, coffee filters. No oven/just 2 burners; and no air-conditioning. Windows open and the cross-breeze is great. Box fan for very hot days -- but when you're right on the ocean, it is nice. One larger upstairs unit has full kitchen. ||Up early, on the deck, look to your left and see all the way down the beach and watch amazing sunrises; at night, look all the way down the beach to your right and see glorious sunsets. Many people swim here -- because of the way it's situatied, right in the inside bend of the tip of Cape Cod's bend, swimming is very safe. You catch a bus in town to go to the National Seashore if you'd like. Great whale watching boats here - headquarters for Coastal Studies that does a lot with disentanglement of whales etc. ||If you're looking for an ultra chic air corporate hotel with airconditioning and pool, this is not the place for you. If you want to be literally on the ocean, one wall of glass sliding doors, and lovely hospitality - come! You will easily see why Provincetown is a muse for many artists including poets, photographers, playwrights,...
Read moreI booked the Watermark because, after calling several places in town that were either a bit rude, booked, or required a minimum stay, I called the Watermark and none of these were the case. The owner was so friendly on the phone I didn't even hesitate to book right then! They sent my confirmation in the mail the next week. ||||It is an amazingly pretty and clean inn right on the water. Even the smaller rooms not looking out to the water have access to the beach and deck. The rooms are quite large with a kitchenette which is some of the best value for you money in P-Town. Be aware the inn is about 1-mile down from the center of town, but as beautiful as it is, you won't mind the stroll. Plus, it is nice and quite as it is out of town on a less traffic-ed street. It's about a $7 taxi ride per person from the middle of town.||||My wife and I only stayed one night, but we had an amazing time here and everyone was so friendly. We stayed in suite #2 which doesn't face the water and were not disappointed. Although, I have to say the second floor suites facing the ocean looked amazing. I even left something behind and the owner called to let me know and mailed it to me. Great time at the...
Read moreThe suites have a good view of the bay. Its all this place has going for them and its very expensive to stay there. Not worth the money to stay there. I would advise not to rent even one night there! The funiture is old and outdated. My family and I could not even eat comfortable at the dining table. The chairs are old and uncomfortable to sit on and they don't match the table in height. You need pillow to sit on the chair or you sink down. The couch is an old Ikea couch which opens up into a bed with springs sticking in your back. Small tv's unknown brand that didn't work properly. The bed is so uncomfortable the mattress must be so very old. The owners are hardly around and are not very friendly people. Do not waste your money. Go somewhere else. Steer clear of this place. It was a waste of money for me and my family. We left after our stay and found something else which was so beautiful and far less expensive and was able to enjoy eating and sleeping with clean...
