This used to be my favorite hotel in Raleigh. I'm multiply disabled with a broken spine and a severe autoimmune disorder necessitating filtered air and a p100 respirator when outdoors to avoid pollen and other irritants from triggering flares of transient encephalitis.
Yesterday my child had a medical emergency and I had to take them to the doctors before I remembered to renew the room. The hotel called me while I was out and said I could renew over the phone and sign the papers when I got back.
When I came back and signed the papers I was told it was no problem.
The next morning when I went to renew the room they suddenly told me that because it had been late the day before they were refusing to renew it. They were using the excuse of a maximum seven day stay policy, even though I had been there for nine already; which shows that it wasn't an automated software thing, but a decision by management.
I'm in the middle of launching a show and lost an entire day having to break down all of my recording equipment and move it to a new hotel, plus spend $80 renting a truck to do it.
We're on a shoestring budget and if this production sinks I'm just homeless while massively disabled, and as the puppeteer and videographer I'm the chokepoint in this entire operation. When I can't work neither can the voice actors or editors.
The housekeeping staff are cool but out of the clerks the only one that's more of a worker than a boss is the cisgender dude.
Don't trust the butch one. She's a stickler for the rules and would side with the cops at Stonewall because indecency was against Policy. Started a whole investigation to find out which clerk they needed to get in trouble because they accidentally accepted my CashApp card when they aren't supposed to ( because apparently the Wyhndhan Hotel Group can't be bothered getting their own fraud insurance and relies on your cardholder agreement ).
It's a shame because I've been going to that building every time I need a hotel in Raleigh for near a decade now, longer than it's been a Days Inn. It's a convenient location.
I suppose I won't be going back again.
Response to the manager: you have cultivated a culture on your property where the staff stab each other in the back. I'm speaking about their behavior and the way they did occurred because of your policies.
And to tell a disabled person with children to be responsible for their own finances in America is downright bigoted. Ableist in the extreme. You merely add onto the pile of your ethical crimes with this response.
Also you contradict yourself and your response within a single sentence. Do you not care if I choose you? Or am I banned from your property? It can't be both.
Staff who are more concerned with covering their butts because of your aggressive nature is what causes toxic workplace cultures like you have to there to develop.
You cringe at this review because it holds a mirror up to your moral failings.
Reduced to one star from two, and I suppose I shall have to raise the issue with Wyndham...
Read moreThe marquee outside this dump has a simple "?" as means of advertising which should've been a warning sign in and of itself. Upon entering the room was sketchy at best. The couch looked severely used and torn. After a brief couple of minutes in the room we found a significantly large centipede near the sink and decided to find a different hotel for the night. The girl at the front desk gave me an excuse about not being able to process a refund and told me the manager would contact me the next day. Didn't offer to change rooms, simply told me that. In the meantime we found a different hotel that night to stay at. The following day after no word from the manager I tried calling only to be told the manager wasn't in and would call me back. I waited for a period of time then tried calling again several times. Finally I decided to go in and try to talk with management. I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. He claimed that the room had looked used and for that reason they were going to charge me for the night. After an exchange of words and still no refund, the manager told me he would call me back in a couple of minutes in which he did. In a much ruder demeanor the manager called back and curtly told me "You're not getting a refund, the room was used". I contacted corporate and explained the situation and finally got the customer service experience that any good company should have. Overall a terrible experience which easily could've been resolved with good customer service and competent management.
Edit: I'm an honest person and simply was trying to get a refund for a room that wasn't used. Seeing as I actually did pay for another hotel room that night at another hotel shows that my issue isn't with paying for a hotel room or "trying to get a free room." I alerted the front desk staff to the issue of the centipede and asked for a refund. The staff at the front desk simply deferred the problem to management. This is the dismissive attitude that the management has had from the get go and I'm glad Corporate can recognize when management fails to acknowledge a situation effectively with the customers best interest in mind. As though I would wish to return to a place with such poor customer...
Read moreReturned bc of previous experience, but NOT SAME! Required a $50 deposit for room (not just hold on card, but actual payment, "it was same thing" in their system as explained by desk clerk), yet clerk could not tell me when deposit would be returned ("could be 2 days to a week, depending on how long it took to process the payment"). Had to clean/sanitize room before I would touch anything. Found long hair in the shower/tub. Ice machine & ice had BLACK MOLD. Lobby was closed, so no "business center", & no breakfast at all. Was going to stay second night (only for convenience of location), but before I got to desk, I was charged $85 on my card. Assumed it was for next night, only to be called asking for payment. $85 was pet fee & a SECOND deposit, which desk clerk "did not know how it happened", but was "just a hold, not a charge", (opposite of what previous clerk said). Agreed to come to desk, but stopped to use bathroom first. Bathroom visit did take a little longer than expected, but before I could finish & leave room, clerk called & just asked us to leave. Approximately 30 seconds after hanging up, maid knocked on door and said we were taking too long, & we "only had 10min" to vacate room.
UNNECCESARY CHARGES, DIRTY ROOM, MOLDY ICE, MISSING AMENITIES, & RUDE EMPLOYEES. CERTAINLY DO NOT RECOMMEND! ... Good-sized rooms w/fridge & microwave, sofa and rolling ottoman are cozy & efficient, great breakfast choices, & convenient to...
