Clayton House Motel — Hotel in Rockford Township

I've been here multiple times and I have to say up until this very last stay I truly enjoyed myself it's an inexpensive getaway surrounded by just enough entertainment to create a pleasant escape wife and I use it as a getaway from the world without actually getting away. We live about 3 miles away from the place. There is one issue that I have to address I was told at one time it was a pretty seedy place that attracted a very unsavory crowd with that being said kudos to the new ownership you have turned that place around good job it's a wonderful location with a fantastic price point. The problem I had which gave it such a low score was management and one particular individual he was rude and slanderous and it has led to this review my is 8 and a half months pregnant and I am a pancreatic cancer survivor and he called her a crackhead I would not have believed it if I hadn't recorded it and told me I shouldn't smoke crack around my pregnant wife what made it worse was he humiliated us in front of another guest we don't smoke crack and I said if you believed that why wouldn't you call the police what is even worse he said he found copper something on the floor what makes it interesting is when we switched rooms due to an electrical issue in the bathroom I said get to inspect the room and find any crack materials he said we are banned he is keeping the refund and things just got worse from there I said where is the evidence I don't know if crack leaves an odor like cigarettes or residue but I assume there would be some evidence of this and the police would be called I asked for a number to the ownership group stonewalled I asked to speak with his supervisor and he said he was the manager when asked how and where to file a grievance I was told to just leave I mean I have been here at least a half dozen times before and no issue it ruined the experience listen I appreciate an individual who loves what he does and wants the Clayton to represent something but to humiliate my wife and embarrass the motel is completely unexceptable and so unprofessional it puts the motel in a situation that forces me to seek legal representation I will not have our names slandered by this individual. We reserved the room for a week. When I called I was told they allowed pets up to 40 lbs and the rate was going to be either 55 dollars a night or 290 for the whole week. I went to check in early and paid for the whole week. The gentleman at the check in was rude. He asked who would be in the room. I told him myself and my husband, he responded and what about the children in your car now. They were not staying with us and would not be staying the night. We stayed only one night because the next day, the same gentleman that checked us in, came into our room while my husband was sleeping without knocking or notice. He stated that he did so because he seen a cat. That there was a no pet policy. Then then repeatedly called the room stating that since the cat was in the car, because I was getting her things in the trunk, they are calling animal services. So I immediately took my cat to a friend's house for our stay but within the few minutes it took to gather her things, they called animal services and stated we had both a cat and a dog in the room. This was false. After I left, the check in gentleman then repeatedly called and harassed my husband to the point that he loaded our things in the truck and we left. The rooms are dirty, it looked like there was pee on the wall beside the bed. The toilet when you would sit on it would move off the floor forward. There was ashes all over the room. The pillows smelled like sweat, we did not use their pillows. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms, unless you want to rent them. There was also burn marks on all furniture. Then on top of all this when we asked for a refund for the nights we didn't stay, we were only refunded 105 dollars out of the 290 we paid them and had to come back the next day because they didn't have the money to refund us. There was always the person that was next to us coming out and staring at our room when we would go in and out of the room. There was homeless people in the trash in the front about 10 feet from the entrance of our room. Also there was, drug addicts in the parking lot of all hours of the night. We stayed 2 nights, the first morning the maid walked in without knocking, we had the dead bolt on, so she almost ripped the door open not accepting it to be locked, she kept the door cracked and asked if we needed anything. Very rude and not even a knock I was so surprised about that. Woke up with 2 bites on my arm and one on my leg. Water is not hot, beds are very uncomfortable, they dont even have fitted sheets it's just a regular sheet put on the bed. They do not have wifi like they say they do. Controllers for the TVs barley work. I will not go here again and not even pay $20 to stay a night, go down the street for the same price but a much better experience. Desk people are very rude and not friendly. The ac barley works in the room, we had it on all the time and it was still 70 degrees in that room.
