Garden Inn & Suites — Hotel in Rockmart

I called this motel and they said that there was no smoking rooms. When I got there I got the key and it didn't work so the guy used his key to get me in! I asked again if it was a smoking room. No, he said. But it reeked. The bathroom mirror was hanging by only a few screws and he said it wasn't going anywhere. I was exhausted so I let it pass. After I unloaded all my suitcases I got locked out again. He said just wake him in the night and he will let me in! Once in the room I started looking around. It was so bad I wouldn't even sit on the furniture! The more I looked the more discussed I got. I called family members and the credit card company to find out if I could get my money back filing a dispute. My other complaints: I found cigarette burns all over the furniture, bed, tub and counter. There were bugs on the sheets and hair on the sheets and the sheets were inside out and I don't think they had been washed and there was no mattress pad. The toilet was filthy the seat hinge was broken. The air conditioner knob with missing. The towels had stains and we're dingy, the wallpaper was in disrepair, the microwave was rusted, the ice bucket wasn't clean and there was no plug in the tub . Underneath the bed there was a bottle of some substance that I have no idea what it was. There was loud noises from other rooms. ||I went back and asked for my money back. The clerk said he would give it all back to me but $10 and that is for money he has to pay someone to clean the room for the time I was in there. I said no one cleaned the room to begin with! He still denied it was a smoking room. He said, "will you accept it?" I said I will take the credit and pursue the other $10. He gave me my $65 credit and I went on my way. When I returned home several days later, I called the credit card company. He didn't give me a credit, he charged me $65! ||I called the motel and the clerk admitted to not knowing how to process a credit. They knew what had happened but they didn't even bother to call me and hadn't even put in the credit until the manager called me back. Let me start with the good: The manager was friendly enough, although he spoke very broken English, the AC worked, and the outside has been repainted. This was the only hotel in Rockmart that would accept pets (although they have a "no pet" policy, they decided to make an "exception" since we would be staying for possibly several weeks). Due to the location being only 15 minutes from Plant Bowen where my boyfriend would be working, we thought this hotel seemed decent enough. However, when we arrived, there was a wait for the room to be cleaned (It was after 5:00 pm). Upon our return, we realized it wasn't all it seemed to be. Our room was on the back side of the hotel. Apparently, there are several permanent residents living there...of which we were placed in the middle. One of which has cats...4-5 that I saw. There was no deadbolt or security chain on the door. The toilet paper holder fell out of the wall. Carpet was pulled away from the wall and torn in places. The television was an old box style, which barely worked. Lighting was horrible. Even with the curtains open on the small window, the room was dark and drab. Cigarette burns were found on the comforter and sheets. We slept fully clothed on top of the bedding and wouldn't even allow our two small dogs to sleep on the floor...even on their blanket. I found 3 roaches...no telling how many went unnoticed. Even our dogs were not comfortable here. We stayed one night due to the late hour and him having to work the next morning. The very next day I beat a path to find another place to stay. The guy at the front desk is very rude. We tried calling to get the rooms we had rented one more night. No answer. Well at 10am we were leaving to go to Walmart and forgot shoes in the room and we were locked out. At 10 checkout time is 11. Called the desk he said to come and he would fix the key problem. I went ahead and asked the lady could I go ahead and pay and she let. The bill was 10$ cheaper but didn't think anything about it. I called the front desk to see if we could get fresh towels and rags the man said bring it all at once quit coming down here. granted was my 2nd time. When I got up there with the stuff I needed exchanged the lady informed me I still owe 10$ bc she didn't charge enough. I met her and got my stuff and said I'd be right back with the money . Went to the room got the money and back the 3rd time to pay the 10$. This time the man began fussing at me bc Noone is suppose to call before 11. It was my fault the lady behind the counter didn't charge me enough. Check out was 11 am and not to come back after i checked out tomorrow. I gave him the 10 and said this is crazy .
