I stayed at this location with my three year old for three days. I chose it because it had a pool, was in a good location for our day trips, and the rate was good. About 20 minutes before we arrived, I got a phone call that the hot water broiler was out and was getting repaired. I was going to be offered half rate for that night. They said they believed it would be fixed that night, but if it wasn’t, I would receive half rate for every night that it was not fixed. I kept the reservation because of the assurance that it was getting fixed. Upon arriving, I found out that the pool was closed for an unknown amount of time, “the chemicals need checked.” I was hot, tired, and now I had a whimpering and very disappointed toddler to reassure. We tried our best to make the most of our time, but honestly, I am very put off by the continual reassurance that the water was getting fixed. Every morning and every evening I would check in for an update And I was told it was getting worked on and should be better very soon. I was also reassured that the half rate would happen. After our active days out, the cold shower was nice, but I was very disappointed with the way that it was managed and communicated by the staff. There was also not a single interaction I had with an employee in which they started the conversation. Even at check-in, I had to go back into an office to find someone. Employees looked miserable for three days. The bummer is, it is a nice location and with just a few tweaks, it would’ve been a perfect stay. This is not my normal experience with Holiday Inn hotels , and therefore, I am writing a review to encourage some changes. Honey, this...
Read moreSeptember 2023 was my wife's and my first time staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Hastings, Michigan. Check-in was smooth but was immediately followed by issues with the key cards. Though the front desk employee was pleasant and quickly resolved the issue, this was just the start of a series of disappointments.
Our room was notably small and dim, even with all the lights on. It emitted an unusual, damp odor, possibly from the proximity to the pool, and was furnished with a broken lamp shade. One of the worst issues was the remarkably loud bed and headboard which made for a restless night, as every slight movement caused a disruption, raising concerns about disturbing neighboring guests. The bed was comfort though!
Our experience with the indoor pool was equally underwhelming due to its uncleanliness and unsatisfactory water temperature. Despite these setbacks, the breakfast service shined as a rare positive aspect. Though the options were limited, the attendant's warm and friendly demeanor made the meal enjoyable.
While the lobby maintained a standard of cleanliness, it couldn’t compensate for the overall lack of comfort and quality during our stay. As a regular patron of IHG hotels, this establishment unfortunately stands out as one of my more subpar experiences. The hotel has room for improvement to meet the standards that frequent guests like myself have come to expect from...
Read moreCame in for Barry-Roubaix Bike Race week-end. Location could not have been better. Close enough to town but just far enough away from traffic. Room was very clean- had everything needed. Very clean!|Staff is incredible! Everyone we encountered, from registration to house-keeping was pleasant, friendly, helpful, professional, nice. Breakfast was very good- continually refilled when low, pancake machine- Fun!! Yogurt, apples, bananas, juices, delicious coffee, milk, eggs, cereal, oatmeal, everything. |We didn’t bring swimsuits- but the pool looked very nice and clean. Wish I had!|Only “downside” if there is one, is we had a road-facing room, so you could hear traffic, but it wasn’t to where you couldn’t sleep or anything like that. The hotel was pretty quiet even being sold out. We were on the 3rd floor, that may have helped, but it was really quiet where we were in the building.|Coffee available all day/night. There is a Biggby across the street that looked busy in the morning but we didn’t need to go there. We did get dinner from the Mexican place across the street San Marcos, it was super good!|I would definitely recommend this hotel! We will be back there on future trips to Hastings. Very cute town, super nice people, clean, felt safe,...
