OK, I was debating… Two stars or three… if three stars is average, then I guess two stars is correct. This is not meant to be an overwhelmingly negative review. For years, I have enjoyed Culver’s food, service, etc. I was thrilled to see this particular store open up as there are not many other culvers around. However, the price point that they are currently trying to occupy has lots of competition… You could probably eat a sit down meal at Applebee’s for very similar money, you could go to the local diner and get better food for the same or less money… So I did not have a particularly poor experience here, but given the quality of the food versus the price point, I no longer find it to be a good value. Back when you could get a five dollar snack pack with a burger, fry, and drink, great! So, the quality is still OK for a fast food joint, but in my opinion the value isn’t really there when you factor in the price. I’m sure we will still continue to come here on occasion… But dollar for dollar, I would much rather go have a sit down meal at a local diner for the same money. Good food, good service, just too expensive for what you get.
Edit 6/28/22
Against my better judgment, we decided to give this particular restaurant one more try. Only because they were the only ones open a few minutes after 10 PM. The line was not long, the employee at the drive-through window was pleasant. The wait time for our food was longer than I would like, but that is not why this review is one star. Once again they screwed up our order leaving out two items that we not only ordered, but we paid for and were on our receipt. The french fries were not warmer than room temperature and mushy. My wife’s sandwich which was a Reuben was made very poorly and sloppy, when they cut the sandwich they also cut through the wrapper which caused it to fall apart upon taking it out of the carton. $26 and change for our two meals. An absolute disappointment. We will NEVER be back to this Culver’s.
It’s a shame, because I’ve eaten at culvers all around Michigan, and have almost never had a bad experience or a bad meal. But this one, it’s in a league of it’s own - king of terrible service and poor quality food.
If you bothered to read this review, do yourself a favor and go to the State Street diner… MUCH better service, much better food, and less expensive....
Read moreThis is my first non-five star rating for a Culver’s I have had. It pains me to put a three, but I compelled to do so.
Hey try to give a little flexibility, as this is a newer location, and I know there will be issues and growing pains.
First off, to come at 2:30 in the afternoon and see more than half the tables dirty, doesn’t sit well with some people. This is not the cause of the low rating, as I figure this will be dealt with as training evolves.
My low score is because of 2 main reasons: They don’t have the dipping ketchup that I have grown to absolutely love and desire at Culver’s. This is a need for someone who needs to eat in the vehicle, as it allows one to have ease of dipping fries in ketchup. This may be small to others, but to me, it is huge.
And the main reason is….. pricing! I ordered my normal single cheeseburger combo. When the cashier said: $8.15, I was blown away! I have been to Culver’s all over West Michigan and this meal has never been above $7.00. Most everywhere it is $6.76. For this high of increase to be found in my small hometown of Hastings, really got to me.
With all this said, this will not stop me from enjoying when I need to in Hastings, but it makes me consider going to Battle Creek before here. I will also state, the food was very good, but no different than the...
Read moreForgive me if I demolish the spelling of her name, but I assume she is relatively new…the woman named Sicily who took mine and my fiancés order…was so pleasant and good at her job. She repeated everything to ensure we had everything on the order correct, she laughed, kinda made fun of herself a little bit during taking the order and she made my fiancé and I laugh too. Her overall tone felt to us like she cared. I am usually pretty disappointed at customer service at most fast food places because employees I feel don’t care at all about doing their best, they are just there for a paycheck and have no idea what customer service is all about. I honestly wish I thought to give her a tip for her being wonderful. It’s not very often I feel compelled to walk inside after ordering to find out the name of a person to give them a good review. I hope the way of the world and its current people doesn't take her service skills away from her. People are pretty entitled and nasty most of the time and I hope she gets to read this and know that there ARE people who appreciate the...
